You really want to blame him for missing 60+ yard attempts?  Had he missed 37, 39, 24 and 38 yard attempts...sure.

Your can't blame the guy on yesterday's misses.  You have to blame the offense (1) for not getting him closer and the coaching staff (2) for putting him in the position to hit one from the freakin' moon.

He missed kicks from 61, 53, 48 and 47 yards.  All were long but the last two were makeable.  Any one of them could've made the difference in this game.  Therefore Carpenter gets my Shame of the Game as well.

No question it was Carpenter.  I'll give him a pass on the 60 yarder, but he's got to at least make 1 or 2 of the other 3.

If he's missing them because he doesn't have enough leg, fine... but that wasn't the case.  (And I'm totally willing to give him a pass on the 61.)  And 47 (especially for the tie) is a FG that a pro kicker needs to make.

Agree with all that is said here.  Carpenter needs to hit anything under 50.  50+ isn't a chip shot.  For a guy in the conversation for pro-bowl, missing sub-50 wide is pretty bad.

Also agree with Henning.  The offense folds like a cheap lawn chair as soon as they sniff the 30.  Why?  Cause somehow on this team FG's are good enough, as long as you don't make mistakes.  Wildcat on 2nd and 10 was about the most disgusting play call this season.  Especially when the offense was clicking and Henne just threw his first incomplete in 10 attempts.

Also agree with Benny Sapp.  What's missed here is that if he hadn't lateralled stupidly and just run for it, he probably gets tackled in FG range, if not takes it to the house.  When the fast guys are all behind you and you only have to be a QB to the corner, the ONLY thing you should be doing is RUNNING.

All three of these guys deserve SOTG consideration, but no one else.

I'm not putting it on Carpenter. Every player has bad games, and Carpenter is money every time he lines up. Maybe he had a hangnail or something. I'm more inclined to give it once again to Henning for the ridiculous play calling. And, Chad Henne too.
