NFL Network reporting that Parcells has called Ross  and convinced him to keep Sparano. And CBS is now running with the story as well. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/26725655

This is great, Parcells is working for Miami, SF, and Minny all at the same time. You can't take him seriously anymore because he is just trying to get his "friends" jobs at this point.

We have jumped to "Matt Millen" territory and are officially the new Detroit Lions. Having a clueless owner listening to a clueless executive.

Josh Mcdaniels might be brought in as our offensive coordinator according to the report. That's great, the guy who Mike Nolan and Brandon Marshall couldn't get along with will join the team. Recipe for disaster. More playing for field goals in 2011! So, Tony is back which means you better rest up Dan Carpenter, you will have a big workload next season.

I'd rather have Gary Kubiak if he's available.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that Sparano will be coming back, but I don't really think it has much to do with Parcells or the fact that Ross thinks he's doing a good job, I think it's mostly about money.  Parcells and Sparano are still under contract, so if you bring in replacements for them, you are essentially having to pay for 2 coaching staffs next year.  I think Ross believes that Sparano has done enough to warrant 1 more year, but he'll have a very short leash next year.  Even if the Dolphins end up say 9-7 and make the playoffs next year Sparano could be looking for work after that.  I think he only sticks around after next year if there's significant improvement like an AFC East championship or at least in the running for it.

Just FYI though, Armando say's the report is wrong.

I wouldn't want Gary Kubiak over Tony Sparano if I were a Dolphins fan. Kubiak has never won the division or won more than 9 games in a season, which he only did one time. He's been very poor under the radar on a team with a lot more skill / talent than the Dolphins. He'll come here and go 4-12 for 3 years.

First of all, I wouldn't want Kubiak over Sparano either, but only because Sparano is already here.  But LOL at the complaint that he hasn't won the division.  His division has Peyton manning in it, he has only coached 5 years, and he took over for a 2-14 team.

LOL at the LOL above!

The Dolphins' division has Brady in it, Sparano has only coached 3 years, and he took over for a 1-15 team!!

^ So, basically, Dolphins fans are lucky to have won a division title and at least be somewhat competitive the last 2 seasons.

Stop blaming everything on Sparano - his division has Brady in it.

yea, they won the division because brady was out for the year. They weren't being somewhat competitive the last 2 years.

back to back 7-9 seasons with a negative point differential is not competitive.

Just for clarity, I was suggesting Gary Kubiak in an offensive coordinator role, not a head coach role.

I think the ONLY reason he is coming back is because of the lockout.

That lockout has all of these owners in fear of firing a guy, paying him, hiring another guy....and having him sit around and do nothing for a while.

Paying 2 coaches where there is NO offseason (minus the draft) and who knows when the season starts. It isn't fiscally responsible. So, next year might be a wasted season but financially Ross would save a ton of money.

That is the reason behind this. I don't buy the Parcells thing for a minute. Not when he is dealing with SF and Minny. Why should Ross listen

I think this rumor has been disproved by several sources but I'm on my phone and not going to look for a link.

Fuck 'em all, Parcells, Sparano, and the rest of the bunch. Be proactive. As Barney said, "Nip it in the bud" and build a team. We have the base, we just need the flash. Ross has plenty of money if he is in it for a championship. But I doubt his motives at this point. I would rather have Wayne than Ross !!!
