Penny is a smart cookie, on and off the field. He was a Rhodes Scholar candidate. My uncle graduated with him at Marshall. I seem to remember Penny was near or at the top of his class. I would suspect he has taken care of his finances.

^^^ I agree with this.  Penny is not Dez Bryant.  I full expect he 1) had explored his options and had proper medical insurance for the lock out, and 2) has saved enough money from his playing years to live comfortably for the rest of his life and put his kids through college -- he might not be able to afford to get a new Bentley or Rolex every year, but he should be able to afford a house in the suburbs and will NOT be one of those players that is bankrupt 3 years out of the league.

I'm with Hoodie on this one...Pennington is one of the last people I'd think would piss away his money and end up as a down-and-out type story.

Sorry to hear about his ACL, but at this point in his career, he can probably afford (api) to take his time on the recovery side. I really hope that Penny ends up coaching at some point...I think he could do a good job helping develop young QBs.

Bess is under contract. Pennington is a free agent
Which even further underscores the point that Pennington would need to provide his own coverage if Bess who is under contract purchased his own insurance.

I hear everyone talking about Penny as a coach. I personally foresee a different direction, something on TV. He was a communications major (I'm not sure what they call it at Marshall) so I could definitely see he going that route as well.

^^^I think I read somewhere (probably a link from here) that Penny has said his plan is to coach, but at the high school level not pro or college.

Me thinks if that if he wants to coach at the high school level he will have no problem landing the job (what school would say no?) and if that is what he wants he probably has thought it through.

^^ I think he may begin at the HS level, but if he has success I can see some higher-level teams come knocking shortly thereafter.

Okay I appreciate that Pennington is a nice guy, and played a great season for the Dolphins.  BUT the guy is a JET!! Stop giving him so much love.

I checked with the Vatican, and they confirmed that once the possessing demon is exorcised from the victim, the victim is no longer considered to be evil.

It's OK to cheer for Penny...

Chad Pennington is a Dolphin.  Jason Taylor is a Jet.

Chad needs to walk around in a suit made of bubble wrap. Cheesy

I wish him luck in whatever he pursues, and I appreciate the things he has done for the Dolphins organization.
