Carroll and Sapp were both running after the Shame of the Game Award.  However, Carroll could never catch up to it.  Sapp caught up to it, but simply ran into it and bounced off of it instead of wrapping his arms around it.

This is the shame of the game thread.  A weekly feature even when the Dolphins win, which they did not.  Slamming the defense in the Game Balls vs NEP would be inappropriate.  Something Dolphster did not Tepop.  It should also be noted that Tepop started the game ball thread and complemented Henne in it.

In an game in which you LOSE, there are obviously things that went bad.  You are completely off base to call Tepop to task for pointing out the weakness of the Dolphins in a lose in a thread dedicated to pointing out the weaknesses of the Dolphins.

I never know when to take you seriously any more...and you obviously are just as oblivious in regards to when I'm joking or being serious. I sure do appreciate your input though! Grin

My vote is for the strength and conditioning coach.

I had to look his name up Darren Krein. The way the Dolphins were cramping it is apparent that he did not do his job in forcing these guys to hydrate through the course of the day. You would think this should have happened to the Patriots, but our defense was gassed and cramping and they have experience playing in South FL. There are no excuses for that.

In a normal year I  would agree Darren Krein 100%.  NE was clearly in better physical condition than the Dolphins.

This year Krein only is part of it. The players that were gassed are to be blamed too.  The true professionals worked out during the off season while the labor negotiations were going on.  The bums did not.

nolan carroll.  hot garbage.

What the hell is "hot" garbage?

Anyway, I think you guys may be getting this wrong a bit.  Yes Sapp and Carroll got eaten up out there, but I think the bigger issue was Rashad Jones.  He played up all game but didn't support either one of those guys.  He played like an absolute moron out there.  He is the last line of defense and he is coming up in underneath support on nearly every play.  Look at all the big plays and you will see him out of position.

Get your head straight Jones!  Hope we get Clemons back soon, he may not catch worth a damn but he knows his role and where to be.

It wasn't just conditioning. It was severe dehydration. How long was Davis out of the game for cramps? Smith was rendered useless for a couple plays as well. Even if he gets off the hook for offseason conditioning being shut down, he still wasn't able to field the full team on the field in an environment that is supposed to be our X factor against other teams. If this had been a game at 1PM like several people here crave for, we would have had an even bigger problem.

You've never smelled garbage after it is allowed to sit and stew in the hot sunlight? I'll just tell you, it stinks.

Gotcha, wasn't really picking up on the extra stinky element.

Yeah, Sapp & Carroll were exploited last night, but the real Shame goes to the D-Line and linebackers that were non-existant the whole game.  No Pressure on Brady.  Unable to stop that pip squeek running back.  C'mon, they were terrible.  Hard for the corners to cover receivers when Brady has 8 seconds to sit there and draw straws on who he wants to throw to on each play.  Then the safety's gotta come up and make the tacles on the RB's because the line and linebackers were so in-effective.

Chad Henne. He played so well, the entire defense forgot what they were supposed to do. Dammit Henne!!!

Wink

Seriously, either Sapp or Carroll.

I have to give it to Mike Nolan as well.  This defense was not ready.  Sad to say, they still can't cover a pass catching tight end.  New England just exposed this vaunted defense on national TV.  Now the entire NFL will see this and gameplan accordingly.
Oh please. Like you couldn't have watched practically every one of New Englands games last year and saw the exact same thing. Nobody in the NFL can apparently cover pass catching tight ends...or perhaps it's just when Tom Brady is throwing to NE's TE's. Nah, that couldn't be it.

My shame goes to Davis. Isn't he the one bragging about how good he and Smith were and he didn't even finish the game because of cramps? Cramps? Are you freaking kidding me?That's like a Florida person not knowing it's going to be hot and humid in the summer. I think he and Smith wimped out.

The reason that Mike Nolan gets the SOTG here, and why it could come with a firing as well, is because of what happened the last time the Patriots played at Miami. Didn't the special teams coach get fired on the same premise? (That his unit was unimaginably awful for one game)? Why would Nolan get any extra slack here - in a year where there's no more time to "wait and see how it works out" because if they don't start winning, they're all gone.

Nolan gets slack because his game plan wasn't the issue; his players were out-of-shape and could barely stay on the field.  He is not the conditioning coach, nor is he the GM... he cooks with the groceries he is given.
