Oh, and one more thing:

^^ lets do it your way. Go find the next Chad Pennington and Chad Henne and try and win that way.
Hey, since Peyton Manning was drafted, how has spending a top-5 draft pick on a franchise savior QB worked out for San Diego, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Cincinnati, San Diego, San Francisco, Tennessee, Oakland, Atlanta, Detroit, the Jets, and St. Louis?

If you took an active QB with a top 5 pick, and he didn't spend any time in Olivia Manning's uterus, you haven't won a Super Bowl.  I mean, since we are pointing at the scoreboard.

now you are comparing "eras" but fail to mention or accept in the era are we have now only teams with ELITE qb's win.

Please.  You are just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. You can't truly believe the BS you are stating.

Yes, in the current era you need an ELITE quarterback... that led the league in interceptions thrown that year... to win the Super Bowl.

TB did it in 2003 and they were the last,....that is almost a decade ago.
Eli Manning is an elite QB? He didn't even have an elite season the year they won and he's been slightly above average the rest of the time.

Since '2000 Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Eli Manning have won the SB. Yep, elite QB is mandatory today.

Eli Manning should spend the rest of his existance every morning sending the following text to David Tyree: "Thank you. Thank you and your stick-um covered helmet. Without you I would be an afterthought in what would have been the Patriots greatest moment."

Elite? Negative ghost rider. -EK

And Johnson and Dilfer had 2 of the greatest defenses in the history of the sport behind the 85 Bears and late 70's Steelers carrying their team. If you want to build a defense like that and "try" and win that way, go for it. It's only worked about 4 times in 40 years. But it doesn't happen much in this league and its a failed model.  It's been 10 years or so since any team has won that way, if that model is so good how come nobody is trying it now?  And how come it hasn't worked since TB won that way?

He is up there. Top half. Good enough to carry a team to a championship. He isn't on the Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, Big Ben, Brees level. But he is right behind them with Rivers. Top 6 or 7 QB in the league today. That is "elite" sorry if reality hurts.

No, he's not.  He's in the middle where about 75% of the starting QB's in the league are. Those QB's have managed to win 3 of the last 11 super bowls which is better than 1/4 of the time.  Sure it's helps to have an elite QB, no question about it and your odds of winning a SB are surely increased when you have one and if you have the chance to get one you take it, but most teams aren't that lucky. They have to make due with the QB they have and hope they are lucky enough to find an elite QB.  Miami just happens to have had some pretty bad luck in finding QB's since Marino retired. It's not like they haven't been looking, they just haven't found one and they haven't put together a team with enough other players around the QB to win a SB with an average one.

It's not like they haven't been looking,

miami has been looking in the 99 cents store for qb replacements. where other teams that have found one have shopped at nordstrom's.

And the laughs keep coming......

Based on your theory you must "hurt" a lot.

He is maybe a little above average and I mean a little.......no where near "elite". Not even in the same hemisphere.

Oh well Ficton can be fun it's your story bro!!!!!

if you think Eli is a little above average you are lost on the issue. He is a lot better than a little above average. By a mile

Fantastic.....you are lost as well if you think he is elite so I guess we are both wrong. He may be better than I am giving him credit for but he is in no way shape or form as good as you are giving him credit for so to each his own I guess!!!!!!

Like I just said:

If Eli Manning is the kind of "elite" QB you need to win in this league, Miami isn't that far off.

Not to interrupt the Eli discussion with silly, useless metrics, but:

QBR Leaders: 2008-10

Over the three years that were charted to create the QBR, one name rises to the top, with Peyton Manning recording the best seasons.
