^^^AZ you usualy make sense, but this is misplaced angst. The BCS is not to blame for having a team in the championship who didn't win their conference. Having a playoff system would allow the same thing to happen. It happens in every sport.
At least a playoff system would give Oklahoma State a shot at a title. The current system doesn't.

I'm thoroughly disgusted by the supposed BCS championship this year. This system is one of the major reasons why I don't enjoy watching college football anymore. Until there is a playoff system of some kind in place, my interest will continue to wan year after year until I'm completely apathetic. I think if LSU does lose a close one, they should still be the national champs. They would have beaten Bama in Bama's own home, won their division outright, and slaughtered their top 10 foe in the SEC championship. LSU would still finish with a better record than Alabama, even with a loss (13-1 vs. 12-1). However, the BCS rules say, I believe, whoever wins the title game is the national champ, but the AP might still keep LSU at #1 and maybe we'll end up with co-national champs...again. Great system you've got there college football.

If, by many people's own admission, these are the two best teams in football, what's the issue? It's every bit as absurd to bitch about the politics involved with having a team ranked 3-5 playing simply to avoid a rematch as it is to bitch about the rematch. If there was a playoff, and these same two teams made it there (likely, although not definite), what would be the difference? If/when LSU wins, finishes the season undefeated, and is the BCS Champion, it isn't going to matter anyway is it? What if OK State loses its bowl game? Didn't the Pats and Giants play eachother in week 17? How silly would it be to say, "Oh, they shouldn't play each other again, because they just played a mont ago." -EK
