So now that Fisher is off the table, who looks like the next likely coach?

Seeing as how it was apparently Ross'  love of Ireland that sent Fisher away I'm guessing we should be asking who will be the next owner.  We are on a one way dead end street.  People like Peter King and others have already been saying use caution when dealing with him.  This won't help the franchise's image any.

I say this and I don't care that we lost Fisher. I just think we have a bad owner.

From Armando Salguero column today

Fisher search leads national pundits to question Fins

Even as Jeff Fisher continues to ponder what team he will coach and what team's owner will be his new boss, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is taking it on the chin from national pundits that obviously don't hold him in high regard.

The latest to take a swipe at Ross is Foxsports.com and FOX-TV NFL insider Jay Glazer, who today held a live chat on the website he works for and was asked his thoughts on Ross.

"I think he is a great businessman but doesn't know what he doens't know when it comes to the NFL," Glazer said. "He has no idea the type of effect many of the things he does has. I wouldn't say he's a meddler and he definitely wants to win but he's done some things behind the scenes that has had many inside the league scratching their heads. Going to interview Jim Harbaugh last year while Sparano was still emplyed was ridiculous."

This comes only one day after Peter King of NBC's Sunday Night Football over America and the entire Earth not to mention the inner Planets, was asked on twitter what is the general perception of the Dolphins organization (Ross/Jeff Ireland) around the league?

"Proceed with caution," King answered.

Glazer and King obviously agree.

Do you know this?  Maybe behind closed doors Ireland supported Moore being the starting QB week 1 and TS opposed that move.  If so, and I was the owner I would give Ireland more control over personnel and fire Tony.

I think Mangini got a major bump in the odds, after Fisher picked  St. Louis.

Hoodie ... It still wouldn't matter. You need to clean up the Dolphins on and off the field. Fisher does the off the field stuff once he is announced. Now you just added to the crazy image the league already has of you. You were willing to pay 7 million plus Tony's two years but not pull osme of Ireland's authority? That doesn't make sense at all.

Oh I know, I just think Ross is a pretty crummy owner in general and the person that is whispering in his ears is not helping at all.  In the best case scenario for Miami, Ross will become frustrated after a few seasons and sell this team to someone wiser.

I don't know anymore than any other casual fan does but it seems pretty obvious to me that both Ireland and Tony needed to go.

This really scares the hell out of me........ Angry

Now the Dolphins are whining that Fisher "used them".  I swear it's tough being a Phins fan anymore. It's as if we are repaying the football gods for going undefeated!!!
From Mike Florio ... you know oyu love him!!!

Now that Jeff Fisher has picked his next team, the loser can begin to chew on sour grapes.

The first volley comes from Mike Freeman of CBS, who reports based on an unnamed Dolphins source that “Jeff Fisher used us.”

Ya think?

It was a classic leverage game, with Fisher manipulating once side against the other in order to get the best deal possible.  Even Adam Schefter of ESPN, who insisted (presumably on Fisher’s behalf) that leverage wasn’t being exerted, couldn’t ultimately deny that it was a leverage game.

Indeed it was.  It’s now too late for the Dolphins to cry about it.  Desperate to legitimize the ownership of the team by Stephen Ross, the Dolphins did whatever they had to do to land Jeff Fisher.  They had to know there was a significant risk that Fisher was using their zeal in order to get the best terms possible out of Rams owner Stan Kroenke.

Kroenke took the same risk.  And Kroenke won.  Regardless, the loser only looks like more of a loser by whining about an outcome that the loser knew was entirely possible.

That is asinine....I think (at least from what I have read) it was obvious that Fisher had some demands to select a coaching gig. We did not offer/meet those demands and the Rams did. Why cry foul and make your franchise seem even more fucked up than it already is.  Roll Eyes

Besides that don't most "free agents' whether it be a player or coach use leverage and other teams to get what they want? Why bitch about a standard procedure because you came out on the losing end!!!!!

Well. We now know why Chuckie went from interviewing on MNF to turning down the offer. He probably didn't want to work for Ireland either.

Mike Florio is a buffoon.  Fisher wanted to be the final say.  Ross wanted Ireland.  crystal clear.  Its not a conspiracy.

No big name coach wants the job where he has no say over what players he gets.

Brian ... no one said any different. Well Armando did slightly but Florio didn't. He just said the Dolphins were whining.

From Armando
According to an NFL source close to Fisher, Ross was not willing to give Fisher power over the entire football operations, including veto power of decisions by general manager Jeff Ireland.

[Update 1: A club source tells me Fisher never requested full authority over the Dolphins. Source says club's understanding was that Fisher and Ireland would work together, agreeing mutually on personnel.]

Obviously, given the contradictory stories coming from the Dolphins and the source who is in the Fisher camp, the two sides were apparently not speaking the same language here. Either that or someone is fibbing.

That leaves the Dolphins, who hoped to lure Fisher to become their coach, scrambling to recover from yet another disappointment following a season filled with disappointments.

Ross and the Dolphins can't whine that Fisher used them. When they last year used Sparano in a crappy way. KARMA!!! What comes around goes around, I don't want to hear it out of Ross and the Dolphins. You took Sparano for a ride and now someone took you for a ride. Deal with it and stop complaining. THIS IS WHY NOBODY WANTS TO COME HERE! Nonsense like this. Do they (he) not get it yet!  Just shut up and find a coach don't cry about how Fisher used you! Yeah he did, so what? Just shut up about it. Nobody is going to feel sorry for you in this league. Whining about it makes things worse!
