i'm whatever on fisher... his teams are generally pretty tough, good defense, run-oriented, he would probably fit the "persona" of how parcells/ireland were constructing the fins.

what i don't get is why st louis is an attractive job. that team sucks big time, and bradford was god awful. the rams are pretty devoid of any talent on the entire roster.

sure they have some cap, and some trade bait with the number 2 pick but that doesn't mean they are going to translate in making the team better.

Bradford is better than anyone in Miami and they got the #2 overall pick.

Miami has no QB worth anything and have a pick that makes it difficult to land a TOP QB this year in the draft.

Plus in St.Louis he can hand-pick his GM and not be stuck with Ireland or Peterson.

This is exactly why Fisher will be the coach of the Rams

I'm not sure, on paper the Rams are a better job. But Ross will pay a lot more money than what the Rams will which gives Miami a good chance to land Fisher

6 Winning seasons (9 or more wins)
5 mediocre 8-8 seasons
5 losing seasons (less than 8 wins)

I did not include 1994 when he took over a 2-14 team

So 11 out of 16 seasons he didn't have a losing record. He has a career record of 142-120 and led the Titans to at least 12 wins four times over 16 years.

And 10 out of 16 seasons he didn't have a winning record.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't consider 8-8 an acceptable result.  This isn't the NBA, where .500 gives you a good shot for the playoffs.

I understand what you are saying but they used to spin Shula's record at 8-8 as a positive all the time. They used to say that we didn't have a losing season in "x" number of years or whatever and 8-8 isn't a losing season. The fact is you can "glass half full or half empty" 8-8 all day long.

Mr. Ross
I don't want Fisher,(Cowher,or Gruden either) I changed my mind pretty quick after his name was brought up,before the season ended...
We've pretty much for the past 15 years we've brought in the same old school, conservative, run the ball and play good defense coaches...Fuck that,I want aSean Payton, that goes and gets the QB he wants and builds around him throwing the ball...The rules are set for a passing game,it's 2012,I'd like a team built for the futute, not the past...

Thank you...that is all...Go Dolphins

Of the 6 winning seasons:

1 10 wins (2007)
1 11 wins (2002)
1 12 wins (2003)
3 13 wins (1999, 2000, 2008)

To go 13-3 3 times as a coach is not really anything to laugh at.  Even more so with an 8 year gap between them.  This includes 1 super bowl appearance, and three times being the #1 playoff seed

Looking at both sides of the debate, honestly, Fisher is 142-120 as a head coach, has only had six winning seasons, a playoff record of 5-6 (with three of those wins in his first postseason in 1999, which led to a Super Bowl appearance. Since then, Fisher is 2-4 in the postseason), and has won his division just four times in 16 years. Having said that, he is probably the best of what's out there right now. He may not be the greatest head coach in the NFL, but he IS an upgrade over anyone Miami has had lately. Unless someone else makes a drastic change of heart (ie, Gruden or Cowher), we could do much worse. -EK

Not that its breaking news but this was on ESPN a few minutes ago.

Jeff Fisher said Friday he is considering coaching next season in only two places, Miami or St. Louis, and that he will make his decision next week.
The former Tennessee Titans coach declined to comment further when speaking to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

I haven't been looking at the stats myself so I don't know how accurate they are but I see a glaring mistake. Three 13 game winning seasons, two 12 wins, one 11 win, & one 10 win are seven winning seasons, not six.

He got the boot so I'm assuming he was stinking it up there at the end. So what was going on there at the end? I think that is the key.
