He got the boot so I'm assuming he was stinking it up there at the end. So what was going on there at the end? I think that is the key.
He quit didn't he?

His last three years were 13-3, 8-8, & then 6-10. The biggest thing that happened during that period (and I think it contributed a lot) was the Vince Young implosion.

I haven't been looking at the stats myself so I don't know how accurate they are but I see a glaring mistake. Three 13 game winning seasons, two 12 wins, one 11 win, & one 10 win are seven winning seasons, not six.
You're right, it was a type-o.  Its one 12-4 season, not 2

And I believe it was Fisher who was not a fan of playing Young and it was the owner who was insisting that Young start.  I believe that was one of the reasons that Fisher decided to part ways with Tennessee. Of course that's all speculation really, but I believe that was the speculation.

6 Winning seasons (9 or more wins)
5 mediocre 8-8 seasons
5 losing seasons (less than 8 wins)

I did not include 1994 when he took over a 2-14 team

And with the same team for 17 years, you are bound to have a couple stinkers mixed in. He was there 17 years for crying out loud

That's right. Bud Adams was in love with Young and forced Fisher to play him. The owner is the owner and you can't override him. Fisher was handcuffed

As of 8pm Friday Night....
Clayton is saying Fisher to accept Rams job on Monday

Rams sideline reporter Friday night saying he is hearing all signs point to Fisher taking the Rams job.

Glazer saying Fisher only using Fins to get most money out of Rams

Schefter is the ONLY guy saying Miami is in the lead for Fisher and the money Ross is throwing at him will land him

Take it all for what its worth.

Let Fisher go to the Rams.  I want a coach like Joe Philbin who understands that today's league is a passing league and will demand Jeff Ireland get him the quarterback he needs.

Lose out on Fisher and Ross is royally screwed. That means he will have to stand up in front of the media within a month or so, announce that (insert name) is the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins and he is the guy we wanted all along. And the single shred of dignity Ross has left will be gone.

The next 24-72 hours for Ross will define his legacy and unfortunately the legacy of the Fins for the future in the NFL. Does he overpay for Fisher, pay him like an elite/top 3 NFL head coach to save face and NOT come off looking like a loser and having the franchise come off looking like a loser. Or does he fail again and not get his man.

Because if Ross loses Fisher;  ha if Stevie boy thought he had an empty stadium last year year, he hasn't seen anything yet wait till next year! Trying to sell THIS fanbase at THIS moment in time a bunch of good that a Philbin, Troub, Pettine, or whoever was his first choice all along and he got his man.....good luck with that!

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Jeff Fisher walks on water and is the savior. But Ross went "ALL IN" on him and if he comes up empty, it's an epic disaster! You can't downplay it or spin it either. A total failure.

^ I now know how the world ends this year.  The sky is a big heavy bitch that's gonna crush us all.

So, one interview means Ross "went all in"?  His legacy rests on one guy?  Wow

MikeO, if Ross went "all in" on Fisher, why'd he interview anyone but Bowles?  That doesn't sound like going "all in."

Furthermore, what makes you think that Ross is forced to say that [Philbin or whoever] is "the only person we wanted all along"?  Notwithstanding the Rooney Rule implications of such a statement, it's not some sort of insult to come out and say, "I'm very happy to announce that [person] is our new head coach.  I think he will be the best fit for our franchise and I look forward to the success he will bring."  None of that is a lie; someone who wants to be in Miami is necessarily a better fit than someone who doesn't (just ask Nick Saban).

My local sports talk radio station has a weekly segment with Chris Landry.  He was saying that Fisher is an excellent coach that made the best with what he worked with in Tenn.  Basically the owner was a penny pincher and he was still successful with the hand he was dealt.  If he has an owner like Ross who will actually open up his checkbook, then he could have great success.  Talk radio though, so take it for what it's worth.

Unrelated side note:  Jeff Fisher is deaf in one ear

I dont care for them to pick a "big name" guy for head coach, as long as its a good one. My problem, and correct me if im wrong thats just what i think, its The general manager, Ireland guy. I think he's f*** crap up in Miami, I think Sparano was as good of a coach as u can get for that team at this point, but he got fired cuz someone had to take the blame, but its Ireland that needed to go, and then maybe somone like Fisher would fit in, but in my opinion as long as Ireland is there its never gonna be good.

Have you heard of the Rooney Rule that every team MUST interview a minority candidate
