...and the body will die."

You have seen the last of Greg Williams in the NFL.  His indefinite suspension will be a lifelong ban.  Count on that.  In a day & age when the commissioner has made it his goal in life to reduce injuries, specifically head injuries, this could not have been a worse quote to have been caught on tape for this guy.

Hope he managed his money well.  He won't be working in the bigs ever again.

not just the bigs...

Would you hire him if you were an AD at a big time school?

Would you hire him if you were a pop warner coordinator?

Would you hire him if you were a grocery store manager and needed baggers?

He should just go to an unnamed island where no one has heard of the NFL and live under a palm tree.

I haven't been keeping up with it completely, but I also saw on the news that all of the appeals are on hold because criminal charges are now pending because of this.  This story is only going to get larger.  You're right, Williams will be lucky if he is a greeter at Walmart.

There's no such thing as greeters at Walmart anymore.   Which pretty much fits Williams very well.   Wink

Of course not.

Enough folks in NO feel that Williams has been treated unfairly that getting that job at LSU would increase almuni donations.

So yes, he will work again, but probably only in the big easy.

Serously? I have not been in quite a long time. I have to pass Target to get to Wal-Mart so that is where I go.

I read the story this morning.  It's simply astounding.  What scum.

They just got rid of them about a month or two ago.   I'll bet Sam Walton was turning over in his grave when it happened.

I think the audio tape that came out sealed the deal.

Maine, you were correct in predicting Goodell's response the first time, and you'll probably be right this time, too.  For once, he actually held management to the same standard he holds players to.

My thing with this, as many other issues, is that, although the NFL is violent game, it's still a business environment.  If any other profession were paying additional money in secret to injure others, they'd be in jail.  I know it's not the same, but it's similar enough to make a big deal out of it.

I'm not in any way whatsoever condoning this, BUT....I'm also not naive enough to believe N.O was the only team doing it. The same way that when Canseco said "half of baseball is juicing," and everyone thought he was nuts, but it turned out he wasn't, it wouldn't surprise me if this only scratches the surface. I'm not implying half the league does it, but I certainly don't think it's this isolated. -EK

I don't think anyone denies that everyone does this.  (I'd be surprised if everyone was paying players for injuries, but the concept of teaching to "take out" stars, sure...)

But he got caught.  You can't punnish everyone.  You can only punnish the ones you catch, in hopes that those you didn't catch will stop.
