I am scheduled to take the aptitude test on May 22 to become a cop.

My reasons for this are that I have always had an interest since I was 19, when I had a car stolen from me, but Florida makes you pay for the academy, and you arent guaranteed a job. In SC, you are hired prior to going to the academy, and are on the payroll 3 weeks before you start. Now, over the past few years, I have lost a couple good jobs due to downsizing, etc. So, I figure this would be a stable career that I can advance in, and it would also be a job that I can transfer anywhere. Basically, a last stop career.

Any suggestions?

Good luck.  The only advice I can give is don't bring your work home with you, and don't bring your home life to work.

For the love of God, know the freaking traffic laws before you pull someone and write a ticket. I live in SC and have had three tickets that should have never been written dropped when I went to court because the cop didn't know how to interpret the law. -EK

Good luck!  Get your 20 in, retire with a full pension, and take a job in another county's Sherriff's office.  The pension/salary double whammy!

I do plan on retiring with full pension. I could run for sheriff I guess at that point. lol
