I think this makes the Lakers instantly better.  And while Howard will help the Lakers, should they land him, he won't be a game-changing player.  It's not that Howard isn't the best big-man in the league -- he is.  But Bynum is probably #2 or #3, so you're improving, yes, but not at one of your weak points.

I think that Nash will make Kobe's job easier, in terms of scoring, but it's going to be hard for him, come playoff time, when he's having to cover a guy like Westbrook.  I don't think that Nash is defensively relevant enough to take the Lakers all the way.

Steve Nash is one of my all-time favorite Phoenix Suns, so this pains me in much the same way that seeing Jerry Rice in a Raiders uniform did at the end of his career.

Really loved ya in Phoenix, Steve...but I can't pull for you to win a ring in La-La land.

Good for him. Just glad he didn't end up in Miami. The down side is he will end his career ringless.

Why is everyone so sure? Injuries can hit anyone, anytime. The Heat or Thunder are not a lock to win it.

You're right. There are no guarantees. But the chances of LA getting by OKC or SA are not very good. Even with Nash.
