http://znnonline.com/miami-dolphins-fan-gm-jeff-ireland-had-an-unpleasant-exchange-on-sunday/

Allegedly he got into an argument with a fan and called him an asshole.  The facts are still coming out at this stage, but I'm hoping this is the final nail in the coffin for him.

Oh well, not a big deal based on the info so far. Even the fan who approached the GM said he doesn't think he would have handled it any differently.

The fan has every right to be pissed considering he is paying for Ireland's suits

He isn't paying for Ireland's anything.  This is a non-story.  Stop trying to find reasons to justify your hatred.

If a guy came up to you in your "class" and told you that you suck at "teaching" and that you should be fired, you'd probably call him an asshole too.

This is blatant pot-stirring by the media, who just wants to feed people more reasons to get Ireland fired, regardless of the work he is doing.

Ireland is right.  That fan is an asshole.  These are still people with families.  They deserve criticism, but there is a place.  When Ireland is walking around, you're a jerkoff for calling him out.

Ireland has to suck it up and stay professional.  I don't know that I'd be able to either.

^^ agreed 100%.  People often forget that the guy is a human and not just a face on a team media guide, there for your criticism.

The guy is lucky that's all he got.

Funny you mentioned that.  I've had that done to me several times by students who didn't think it was fair that I took points off their papers for grammatical errors or hate the fact that I don't accept late work unless you have a documented emergency.  Each time, I laughed and referred them to my department chairperson.

To call a fan an asshole in public is extremely unprofessional, even if the fan is acting like one.  And this is not the first time Ireland has made unprofessional comments.

How did the story leak out? I am guessing Ireland didn't leak it out. So the fan acts like a jerk in public, someone calls him out on it and yells a profanity his way, and he (the fan) gets upset and runs to the press? LOL Give me a break.

Jeff SHOULDN'T have said what he said, but jesus christ talk about this "fan" being a total tool. If you act like a jerk in public be prepared to have someone go off on on you!

^ In the article I saw, several fans who witnessed it called in to 790 The Ticket with the story.  Then the actual guy called in.  Then the Dolphins confirmed their version of the story.

Here's how I see it.  The Dolphins give you ways to speak out -- they're calling you, asking you things.  They don't hinder sites like this.  There are multiple radio stations that take calls about this stuff all day.  There's no shortage of places to call out Ireland if you're unhappy with him.   ...but DURING a game, in the concourse?  Idiotic and embarrassing for the guy that did it.

The fan called the radio station and broadcast the story.

Ireland didn't say it to him, Ireland gave him the happy smiley face and a fake laugh.  What Ireland said was to himself, and 100% accurate.

Fan was an idiot and probably drunk.

But still Ireland should be mature (and sober) enough to ignore it.  On the whole a non-story.
