Apparently being injury prone has given him fresh legs.  Also, word is in New Orleans that he wasn't really taking care of himself which resulted in those injuries.  Now with the benefit of hindsight and the stigma of being traded for a six pack and a quart of pork fried rice, he's taking his job/career more seriously.  End result, his first 1000 yard season and being more of a complete back than ever.  It doesn't matter if it's a two, three, or four year deal.  Just lock him in now.

And then in 3 years when you are here going....how can the Dolphins be so bad and still have no salary cap space. It's because you don't give out bad deals like this. I want to keep Bush, but no more than 2 years and at a reasonable price. His market is not going to be huge. In fact it will be rather small as running back isn't a position anymore where you see guys switching teams getting huge money deals. Teams use running backs by committee and feel you can get quality young guys cheap at that spot no need to pay big bucks to a vet with a lot of wear and tear on him.

Ha, ha, ha. A person can call you names and that doesn't give you a right to assault them. I deal with wanna be tough guys everyday. They never do a damn thing, most people take the path of least resistance. I can tell them to go fuck their mother. They touch me and I can legally beat the shit out of them. After beating the shit out of them (If I'm physically capable of course), I call the police and press assault charges, then I sue them in civil court for my ongoing back and neck problems, then I own their ass. So my rule of thumb in life is that you can use your freedom of speech and call me names and I will do the same, but you don't physically put your hands on someone. Another thing you have to consider is that you never know who has a 1911 cocked and locked with them and once you fuck with the wrong one, it's game over and it's your fault.

That is not correct. If your language is deemed by the court to be fighting words, then you can be held liable as provoking the fight as if you threw the first punch.

Mike, you are a true die-hard Fins Fan and I congratulate you for that. But still, the team has to have some play makers. And who have we got (left)? Well, let's add them all up.... It looks like -- hey, Reggie Bush. And that's it. Tannehill has potential, mos def, but not unless he's got some receivers. Hartline's a possession guy with absolutely no YAC, and Bess is a good slot receiver. You really think Ireland's going to be able to Draft anybody of Bush's caliber? From what I've seen Jeff Ireland with Draft Picks is like Stevie Wonder at the Free Throw Line.

And, for the record, we can most certainly blame Ireland for Soliai. They were not able to get an extension done, so they had to Franchise him for $12 Million, made him the highest paid Lineman in Dolphin history. We could have locked him up for half that for that Season (believe it was 2010) had they gotten an extension done. And the only reason he stuck around was he played so terrible nobody else would offer him any big bucks. He wasn't even a factor that Season.

But these are just two of the examples I could cite. You don't want to start going down the list of all the stupid stuff Ireland and the Miami Front Office has done. That would crash the whole Internet.

Reading the rest of your post makes it seem you see one in the mirror quite a bit.

This entire thread just goes to show you that once a guy gets on someone's bad side, they can never do anything right.

People decided they hate Ireland (whether justified or not), and now no matter what he does (e.g. Soliai), its a terrible move.

Can't win, and people can't be objective.

You don't give out bad contracts in this league! You do and you have issues for years. Period.

And  you act like Miami is the FIRST team to ever franchise a player. Who cares? Ireland won on that deal. He ended up signing Soliai to an extension at a hometown discount in the end. Wasn't that the goal? Who gives a crap that Soliai was the highest paid defensive linemen in Dolphins history? What the F' does that mean or matter? Who cares? Honestly. It's a meaningless thing to even mention. And if you think Solia was terrible in 2011 when Miami was 3rd in rushing defense you don't understand NFL football.

You just don't go passing out extensions when guys have a good game or a few good games. That's how teams get in major trouble! Nobody is defending Jeff Ireland's resume, but jesus christ give him credit for the couple things he has done right.

Yep. How Ireland gets ripped for the Soliai deal when he waited Paul out and WON ON THE DEAL is beyond me. Some people just don't understand how this league works and want to pass out big contracts after a guy has 1 good game.

Good luck with that one, ha ha ha........

Not me. I'm far from a tough guy. To be honest, I actually feel like an old man. Like I said, you don't put your hands on people unless they get physical first. If I put my hands on someone, I better expect that I might get my ass beat down, maybe even shot or killed. That goes likewise for someone that might want to assault me. Call me names, call my dead mother names, call my wife names, or call my kids names. Say anything you want to me, I really don't give a shit and won't lose any sleep over it. Verbal confrontations happen all the time, that doesn't give anyone free reign to assault someone.

The COUPLE of things Ireland has done RIGHT. That's exactly the point. How many bad moves has he made? Well, we wouldn't want to overload the entire internet with that discussion. When you start trying to cite the "COUPLE" of things somebody's done right it's basically game over. Stevie Wonder at the Free Throw Line.

The media is looking to crucify Ireland to get clicks to their story, or listeners to their radio show.  Play up to what fans want.  Its miserable.

Well if Ireland had done his job would this BE a story ?

I've been thinking about this and have come to this conclusion.  Everyone complains on message boards and many times people get criticized for hiding behind their PC. Well this guy didn't. At the one time and place that he would have a chance to tell him how he feels he did it. I don't think it's any different than yelling "you suck" to the Sparano as he fist pumps our field goals with the exception this guy did it face to face. Good for this guy. I wownder how many of the people being nice to Ireland and getting autographs have bad mouthed him?

With that said ... I have no problem with Ireland calling him an arsehole and neither did the guy apparently. So calling this is a non story is probably correct.

Total non-story. You can bash Ireland for legit things that matter. Don't need this to bash him over.

You and I agree on something. 4 or 5 year deal for a running back approaching 30 is horrible. Miller looks competent and can replace Bush. Bush and his big contract expations will be someone else's worry after this season. Let him walk.
