Not sure why the Matt Moore thread was locked.  I didn't see any personal attacks or rules broken in it.

That being said, I agree with Mike O's points regarding picking up a sixth or seventh for Matt Moore.  He will probably walk at the end of the season for nothing, so picking up a pick for him would be good.  Also, lets hope the trade talks with Dwayne Bowe gain steam.  Despite Brian Hartline's breakout performance against Arizona, this team needs some serious help at receiver.

He performed well enough in the preseason to earn the backup job.  Although for insurance purposes, I would bring in a veteran quarterback if Matt Moore was traded.

Neither did Tannehill...lol

It's the "back-up" you hold a clipboard and wear a baseball cap! Nobody is asking him to play!!! lol

Devlin will probably be the back-up next year when Moore walks as a free agent, so what is the big deal.

If I recall correctly, the Dolphins had three different quarterbacks playing in the only game they won at home in 2010.

A coach whose name I can't recall offhand once said, "You tell your backup quarterback that he's one play away from starting, and your third string quarterback that he is two plays away"

Whatever. It has nothing to do with this issue at hand. Tannehill is a rookie QB who is going noplace for a while. Matt Moore has no future here and will be gone after the season when his contract expires. If Miami has the chance to make a trade to get a late round pick and they don't do it out of "fear" Moore might have to play between now and Christmas they are stupid! Matt Moore sucks anyway and I don't see Devlin as any bit of a drop off.

I still say sign a veteran if you trade Moore, for insurance reasons only.  That way, you still have three quarterbacks and you pick up a pick.

Look at it like this.  Let's say you got the brand new Samsung Galaxy s3 phone, and you put it to good use and it's working like a charm.  Obviously you're going to be using it on a regular basis, but you still want to keep your old Samsung Galaxy s2 as a backup in case something happens to your s3.  I come along and I'm in need of a smartphone because my new job requires me to have one.  I need one right away but I'm not eligible to upgrade my phone yet.  I offer to buy your Samsung Galaxy s2 for $200.  You know for sure that the market for used Galaxy s2's is around $150.  You still want a backup device in case something happens to your s3.  So you take my money, then go buy yourself another used s2.  You still have a main device and a backup device, and you've picked up $50

FYI - I locked the Matt Moore thread because it was a thread about Matt Moore and went off about Long, Martin, and Dwayne Bowe.  It was way off topic.

This is better.

An argument can be made either way that Devlin could step in if needed should they trade Moore. As I said in the other thread, personally, I am more comfortable with Moore, but could live with the Devlin scenario.

The real question is if any team would be willing to give up something for Matt. It is the same situation with K.C. and Bowes, except Matt is not saying he wants out.

IMO, a 7th rounder doesn't sound too appealing for an experienced backup NFL QB.

The only difference is that some teams NEED a QB now, to play now.

The Dolphins don't NEED a WR now, despite what people think.  There are 5-6 warm bodies there that can play that position.

An upgrade to that position is a need, but not necessarily a pressing need at this point in the season.

With 2 decent backup QB's on the roster, the Fins could find themselves in a very good situation. While no team wants to give away picks for a guy in the last year of his contract, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Not sure what is happening in K.C., but in AZ. Kolb has a pretty serious injury to his ribs. Word is he has torn cartridge. That could take a long time to heal. However, when Kolb was out before backup Skelton did a "serviceable" job. They also have a rook QB named Ryan Lindley.

Or you can look at it like this: I sell my backup Galaxy S2 to you for $150, but the only backup replacements i can find are S1's, and I end paying $100 for it.  Now my S3 craps out and I'm stuck using a crappy S1 and I'm losing business because I can't stay connected like I used to, and I could really give a crap about the $50 I made on the deal because it cost me more in the long run due to lost business.
