I don't think it was the realization that the Dolphins are better, I think it was the realization there's that much disparity between where the Jets are now and where the Dolphins are now. The gap is widening quickly between the 2 franchises headed in opposite directions. This was an eye opener not just for Rex, but for the Jets as a whole.

Miami is 10-6 over the last 16 games, the Jets are 6-10.
