A Jacksonville TV station started a rumor last night that the Jets and Jaguars are in trade talks regarding Tim Tebow.

http://m.usatoday.com/article/news/1671293

Other news sources have discredited that rumor, but I think Tebow for Henne straight up would make a lot of sense for both teams.  Here is why:

1.  Tebow is a legend in North Florida.  He grew up in Ponte Vedra Beach, played his high school ball at Neese High where he won a state championship and was named Florida's Mr. Football twice.  He then proceeded to head to Gainesville where at the University of Florida, he won two national titles, a Heisman Trophy, and set an SEC record for the most career rushing touchdowns.   Imagine that, a quarterback having more rushing touchdowns than a few legendary running backs!  His parents are members of the First Baptist Church in downtown Jacksonville and are very active in the community.  Having Tebow in a Jaguars uniform would draw all kinds of fans to the games and sell quite a bit of jerseys, thereby increasing revenue for the team.

2.  Sparano has a knack for picking up failures from his former teams.  While coaching the Dolphins, he picked up several castoffs from the Cowboys.  Now as the Jets offensive coordinator, he has picked up a few Dolphins castoffs.  I'm sure he would love to have Checkdown Chad, a quarterback he is familiar with and can run his offense in spurts.

What do you guys think?

I wonder if Chad would want to deal with Sparano again. Heh.

Trade deadline passed 2 days ago, so no.

However, Chad Henne is head-and-shoulders better than any QB on the Jets' roster right now.

No it didn't. The deadline is today because of the league offices closing for Sandy.

I read earlier that the deadline was October 30th.  Did they move it?

Tebow was in J-ville Tuesday with his girlfriend. Sorry Dave. This doesn't help your gay theory.

Quote
Tim Tebow is dating.

Let's all just pause for a moment while the world freaks out and bedlam ensues, if only for just a moment.

TMZ is still on the pulse of what the people want, and we all want to know who Tebow, age 25, is dating. Reportedly, it's 26-year-old actress Camilla Belle, former girlfriend to pop singer Joe Jonas.

We finally have closure to the great mystery surrounding Tebow's love life, just in time for the remaining Tebow fanatics who haven't lost interest by now.

The hype and hoopla of "Tebowmania" has devolved into something more along the lines of "Tebowcuriosity," perhaps even "Tebowpassinginterest."

Either way, the most famous backup quarterback finally has a gal, according to the report.

Tim Tebow has finally scored -- problem is, it's off the field -- because TMZ got the first pic showing Tim with his hot new girlfriend/actress, who is no stranger to famous virgins.

Tim and Camilla Belle showed up at Latitude 30 in Jacksonville, Florida Tuesday night, where they bowled and partied.

People who were at Latitude 30 last night tell us ... Tim and Camilla were overly affectionate throughout the evening, holding hands and touching.

Camilla's rep didn't get back to us, but sources connected with Camilla tell us they are definitely an item.

Yes because of the hurricane closing the NFL offices.

I would have been willing to bet the Jags would have got him from Denver. I was shocked he went to N.Y.

I heard the rumor of him going to Jax is not true. Guess we will see come 4:00 p.m. today. Either way, he will not be back in N.Y. next year.

If the Jags do this while they have a young QB they are trying to develop, they are insane.   After watching the circus in NY, I would say there's no way, but Jacksonville is a hot pile of stinking garbage and who knows what they will do with their new owner.

His parents are members of the First Baptist Church in downtown Jacksonville and are very active in the community.

I'm not sure I see the relevance here, since it's the Jags front office making the decision, not Tebow.  Maybe when you get Tebow, you get the Tebow family, just like with Ted Ginn.

For Jacksonville, that's exactly what I'm talking about.  Tebow will be seen as a "local boy who made good" and everyone in town will want to get Jaguars tickets.  That will put more butts in the seats and revenue will come rolling in.  Additionally, his parents could get involved with the team and players/coaches/front office personnel could get involved with his parents ministry.

This is more of a PR move than a football one, but it has the potential to be a major positive for Jacksonville.

It will sell tickets and jerseys and that's the only way he helps the team.

Which raises the question - you've seen teams dump players to save money...  Is it equally wise to acquire players solely to MAKE more money?

JAX acquiring Tebow is just good business.  No one will care if he sucks, and they will sell out games.

If I recall correctly, Elway gave Tebow a choice between offers from Jax or NY last off season.  And we all know which one he preferred.

I see people trying to put a square peg in a triangle hole...Jets have a bye this week, and Fat Rex gave them the week off because of the storm...Tebow going to Florida to avoid the storm is making Mountain out of a mole hill IMO Doesn't mean he's getting traded there....

I just don't see it from a Jets perspective...There was guaranteed money going to Denver in the Tebow trade along with pick/s,and he's signed through 2014....I think you'd be compounding dead money when you jettison Mark Sanchez at the end of the season. I think the Jets offense can be turned into a "Tebow" offense more easy at this point than the Jags offense...

The money situation goes both ways IMO Jets are getting the benefit of people clamoring for Tebow during a shitty season...

Trade Tebow =  maybe a 4th round draft pick+Unreliable back up and Sanchez+ more dead cap space (modified to add (the Jets gave up a 4th + 6th and little over 2 million in cash for Tebow (bonus this year and 2013)

Makes Sense for the Jags,Not for the Jets

I (Being a Dolphins fan) think this is horrible news if he does get traded away,I love seeing the Jets in turmoil, and sucking...it's a Push

With Checkdown Chad backing up Sanchez, the Jets will still be in turmoil and still suck.
