The statement said there was no evidence that Manziel received payment for signing autographs.

The NCAA and A&M agreed on the one-half suspension because Manziel violated NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1, an NCAA representative confirmed. The rule says student-athletes cannot permit their names or likenesses to be used for commercial purposes, including to advertise, recommend or promote sales of commercial products, or accept payment for the use of their names or likenesses.

NCAA: Johnny, did you make any money off those signings?
Manziel: No.

Obviously nothing to see here.

They could have subpoenaed his bank records for deposits. I doubt he took no money for all those autographs.

^^^^ You don't think it would of been a cash deal? Why leave a paper trail if you knowingly are doing something illegal?

Any bank deposits don't mean anything but circumstantial.  it would be suspicious, but doesn't prove anything

What I don't understand is how the NCAA can go after Miami with blazing barrels and they've been doing it for three years, but they spend all of five minutes with Johnny Manziel.

Sounds like EA Sports and their college football game if you ask me.

^^^ They do not name them but they use their current numbers (and I believe their listed size). There is a current lawsuit led by Ed O'Bannon. Several football players have joined in as well now.

Yes they do. I've never played them, but a couple of quick clicks to the EA Sports College Football game page confirmed:

http://www.easports.com/ncaa-football

I'm certain that is Denard Robinson, Michigan's QB the past few seasons (and a utility QB/RB/WRthat I drafted in my huge dynasty IDP league's rookie draft this past week). RGIII (and someone else) was on the 2013 game, and Mark Ingram was on the 2012 game.

I am 100% there with you on this.

Dez Bryant should be flipping over tables right about now.  He got suspended for the remainder of a season (9 games) for having a conversation with Deion Sanders, yet Manziel is selling autographs and he gets "suspended" (?!?) for ONE FREAKING HALF OF A GAME after a five-minute investigation?
