Turns out he was a key patient in this clinic across the street from the University of Miami that provided PED's to many college and pro athletes.  Rumors are stirring that the Yankees don't want him back, ever.  Where do you guys think he goes from here?

I fully expect A-Rod to pop by your place sometime soon, so that he can go fishing on your boat.

One thing is for sure.  If the Yankees are able to void his contract, he will have a lot of time to do that, as well as a lot of other things

The Yankees have no chance of voiding his contract because the MLBPA is more powerful than the AFL-CIO. The amount is too great and it would set a precedent that would cause dozens of courtroom fights lasting years.

They should be able to void it because Steinbrenner is a moron.

As far as the man himself goes, I am convinced at least 65% of baseball is on steroids, so I am not going to cry about the sanctity of the game. If he gets caught, he should be suspended, but what's left? Even if by some miracle he breaks Bonds' HR record, what would it mean? Bonds isn't in the Hall of Fame and I don't think he ever will be, so these guys are already being punished for cheating by having their records discarded as meaningless.

Here's hoping he can't return from his injury, and the insurance company pays off his contract.  Then on to retirement.

^^^^^

Even if insurance pays off his contract, it still counts against the payroll for luxury tax purposes.  That's the problem in baseball.  Contracts are 100% guaranteed.

^^^ Actually, having the contracts 100% guaranteed is what's right with baseball.  It's actually a true contract.  Having the contracts NOT guaranteed is what's wrong with football.  I'm sure the Yankees would happily pay the luxury tax if they could get of A-Rod's main contract.  Although I don't like the idea of contracts for injured players (that are out for the season, not just temporarily on the DL) going against their salary cap.

i don't think NFL contracts should be guaranteed.  your career can end on one play....so if a guy gets signed to an 5yr 50m contract and blows his knee out on his first play from scrimmage the team is fucked, and their salary cap next year is fucked too.

On the reverse angle, would you want a job that is very injury prone and zero compenation of you suffer a carear ending injury?  If I got hurt at work I would still collect workmans comp as would most people.

yeah, workers comp doesn't pay you out your full salary for x amount of years.  workman's comp is a smaller percentage for a limited time

MLB has the most ridiculous contracts for the players and the NFL has the worst. The salaries should be reversed considering the amount of pain and length of career in the NFL.

It pays 67% for a max of 5 years.  Most sports contracts are shorter than 5 years.

Apparently, Alex had the Doctor come over to his Mansion late at night to do the injections. One time, the Doctor couldn't find a vein and Alex kicked him out because he was bleeding so much.

What steroids are taken intravenously?

MLB officials are going to meet to decide what to do about the players who were patients at the clinic.  Not sure what's going to happen but it is unlikely that they will void anyone's contract.

This looks similar to the BALCO scandal
