Ok, now that's it official, I'm setting the unofficial Over/Under on the new Logo and Uniforms at 4 1/2 years.  Can the Admins please setup an official vote for Under/Over.

I'm gonna go Under. The only way I see it making 5 years is if Miami makes significant strides in the playoffs over the next couple of years. That alone will drive up the marketing of the brand and they'll stick with it, but if that doesn't happen, I see sales decreasing to the point they change back to a look similar to the traditional one within 5 years.

I'll take over, going away, and I would love to find the sucker that would put money on it.

Name any major new logo+uniform change for a Big Three (NFL/MLB/NBA) sports team that has been totally scrapped and retconned within 5 years of release.  Ever.

Over. and its not even close. Considering its a 2 year process with the NFL to change uniforms/logos no way they make a sudden move to something else

These are here to stay a while

Yeah but it was also only a minor change

I'm going with the over.  Hopefully this will be the end of this crap for awhile as I'd really like them to focus on putting a quality team together.  I'm sure the change is something they want to be part of it but seriously how many threads did we waste on this nonsensical crap?

No-brainer on the over...the next change will come 8 years from now, in 2021.

Alright, considering it's a 2 year process to change the unis/logo then we'll say the over/under pertains to the DECISION to change the unis/logo. They decide to change it again before the 2017/2018 season, the under wins.

Again, over by a landslide.

To clarify: would you consider a change like the '97 logo/uniform changes as satisfying this bet?  Because those were tweaks in my eyes.

I'd say that in order for this bet to be satisfied, the dolphin would need to return to the old pose and re-don the helmet.  If the over/under on that is anything less than 10 years, I'm instantly taking the over.

Any change at all to the logo will satisfy the over/under. A minor change to the uni like changing to a different shade of blue or slightly altering the lettering in some way I'll give you, but anything more than that would also constitute a change. They've had 2 years to get this thing exactly how they wanted it. Just about any change within 5 years is an admission that they didn't get it right.

My feeling is that without some help from the team or the players, like the team winning the AFCE and a couple of playoff games or Tannehill turning into the reincarnation of Dan Marino or something along those lines and the merchandising is gonna take a hit over time. It won't happen right away, there will be an initial upswing in the merchandising while all those that just have to have the new stuff go out and get new stuff and from the people that actually like the change, but after a year or two that will wear off and the logo/uniforms themselves will have to carry it. I think that's when they'll realize they've made a mistake and start thinking about making another change to control the damage. I think they are vastly underestimating the power of tradition here. This is a break with tradition and if it were an awesome logo it would be different, but I just don't see that. I see something that is uninspired and lacks new direction. This was change for the sake of change, not change for the better.

Uhh, what?

The goalposts seem to be moving pretty rapidly, there.  How can it be a look "similar to the traditional one" without restoring the very elements that MAKE it different from the traditional one?

If you set aside the helmet and the pose, the 2013 logo IS the old logo with "minor changes":  it's an aqua-colored dolphin superimposed on a sunburst.

Those were my comments. That's what I think will happen but just because I'm wrong that doesn't mean the over wins. The over/under is on changing the logo/unis again.

The helmet, the pose, the look of the Dolphin, the look of the sunburst, even the colors are different. What's the same other than the general idea of a Dolphin and a sun? Since the Team is the Miami Dolphins it would pretty tough for it not to be a Dolphin. The only thing they really kept that they realistically could have gotten rid of is the sun.

The Baltimore Ravens changed their logo within 3 years of moving to their new city.  Drastically.

The Jags changed theirs before they first hit the field in '95, but that was due to a legal dispute after the first official reveal.

That's all I can come up off the top of my head.

The look of the dolphin, the look of the sunburst, and the colors have all been changed before.  Those were considered "tweaks."
