B's thread about paying for tickets had several good groups mentioned and started me thinking. What is the best and worst concert you have seen regardless of price.

Best: The Allman Brothers Band. Even when I have seen them off (seen them several times) they were still good. When they are on it is fantastic.

Worst: Guns N' Roses. I saw them in the peak of their popularity when they opened doors several hours before coming onstage after midnight. It just didn't live up to their hype.

I know several people are going to make lists but please try to limit yourself to 1-2 shows if possible. I really want to get your idea of shows that blew your mind rather than hearing about every good show you have ever seen.

Best: Paul McCartney
There was just something really special about being in a packed arena with everyone singing Hey Jude.  Also, the way he casually talked about "my friend John" made it feel intimate, despite being a big show.

Worst: Snoop Dogg
He actually opened for the Chili Peppers, but rap just doesn't work live.  It was just a bunch of dudes talking over each other.

I saw Dave Matthews Band on their Under the Table and Dreaming tour at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Amphitheater, in Woodinville, WA back in '95.  Another super cool band, Jamiroquai, opened for them.  Outdoor bowl amphitheater, everyone had a bottle of wine, and there was enough pot smoke in the air to choke Cheech and Chong. Both bands were nothing short of awesome, but what made this show so memorable for me (and everyone else in attendance) was the "non-concert activity" that briefly interrupted the show.

Behind the stage was a small hill, and on the other side of the hill, unbeknownst to everyone at the concert, a massive hot air balloon rally was getting started. As Dave Matthews Band started the violin intro for the song "Warehouse," suddenly  every eye in the crowd suddenly looked up from the stage to the top of the hill, as about 30 hot air balloons broke free into the afternoon sky. There was an audible "Ohhhhh" from several thousand concertgoers, and Dave and the band stopped playing, turned around and we all watched the hot air balloons for about 2-3 minutes. Then Dave turned back around and said "That was pretty cool..." and they started back in on Warehouse again. It was one of the most amazingly beautiful things I've ever seen.

best - alice cooper

This made me smile...I digs me some Alice.

Just a side note: I've always really enjoyed 311 live.  I've seen them a ton of times and they always seem really happy to be there and appreciative of their audience.  They bring lots of energy every time -- this spans decades.

311 live is a great show....I have seen them twice.

I have two shows that stick out in my mind as my favorite......

Don Williams and John Anderson.....Both of these shows are ones I will never forget!!!!!

For me the best is relative,to the experience I had there, what I remember, and how good the band/people I came to see was...

Best -
'92 - Ozzie -Swiss villa amphitheater,in Lampe<--Disqualified,though,I never actually made it in the venue..
'94 - Rolling Stones -  Faurot field in Columbia -yet I was pretty drunk when I got there, and extremely baked by the end. Some people below us had some really high quality weed.So I remember the music, and the weed was pretty damn good, not much else...

Worst - '99 Black Oak Mountain amphitheater (Swiss villa renamed when new owners took over) -Great White /Dokken...We left after a song or two of Dokken...This was the last concert I think I attended...
