My sincerest condolences, Stroke.  I hope whoever does it gets in a horrific accident on it and is killed.  Then, the cops tie the stolen bike back to a chop shop, there is a shootout, and everyone involved is killed.

^^While I detest a thief. I'm not sure that punishment fits the crime.

It's interesting that you wouldn't kill the kiddie porn dealers in the that thread, but you want car thieves to get killed.

Thanks, Yaz, but I live up in Lantana now.  No worries...I can do the walk/bike/bus thing until I can get new transportation.

On a more happy note... I was really not looking forward to running errands and basic stuff using my feet and the local Palm Tran bus service, as my knees at this point are basically for display purposes only. I set out today with a list of chores that included going to city hall (to turn off the water at my old apartment), hit the bank (to get rent cash for landlord) and go to the grocery store to restock my chomp-and-slurp supplies. After studying the local bus routes and schedules, I figured it would take 3 bus changes and about 4 hours to get everything done. As I was leaving my apartment though, my landlord's wife, Susan (common law), asked me if I would like to borrow her little car. I didn't ask, and wouldn't...I don't want my problems to be problems for anyone else. I graciously accepted her offer, and told her I'd drop a 10-spot in her gas tank as a way of saying "thank you." An hour later, I was done with everything, and back home to my keyboard, so I could get to work and make more money. When I got back, she said "I always have Mondays off, so if you want to make this a weekly thing, it wouldn't be a problem at all."

So, that will help quite a bit until I can get wheels under me again...

New...about $1,600. Used, about $1,000.

I caught teenagers stealing one of my tires off of my truck when I was in my twenties. I had the police harass them for a while but I didn't press charges. They were decent enough to put it on blocks instead of dropping it on the ground.

Turns out they were from the other side of Orlando and had gotten a flat tire in the middle of the night. It just so happens my truck fit their needs. Kids!!

That sucks 'stroke, sorry to hear about that. Been stolen from as well. I tell you, the feeling of anger is overwhelming that I think I could hospitalize a m'fer for long time if I had a good chance to. All I'd need is a crowbar.  Grin

What do you when it snows and rains, though?  Not go out?

If it snowed in South Florida, I expect everyone would panic as if it was the end of times.

Snow:  I live in South Florida, so this is a non-issue
Rain:  Prior to living here in SoFla, I spent a significant amount of time living in two of the rainiest places in the world, Seattle and London. Until things get to hurricane status down here, I don't worry about it.

I live in MA, so snow is an issue.

Rain wouldn't be, it's just that I can't show up at my jobs soaking wet.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Still $1600 for that kind of gas mileage is mind blowing to me.

I'd be willing to chip in to the "Get Stroke another Scooter fund" because some dumb ass nicked his.

Let me know where to send some funds....
