And none of this matters to Putin or Russia. They will keep supporting Assad to the bitter end. The rebel forces have been hampered by infighting now because fundamentalist terrorist cells are trying to get into power.
It is a uber shit sandwich, and we need to stay out of it. It will be messy, and their is no clear side to back.

Personally, I feel like this is one we should keep our noses out of.  I agree that it is terrible and awful and needs to be stopped, but the US can't go around invading every country like war mongers just because they do shitty things.  Agreed that the UN needs to be the one that takes actions.

Of course, but at least it won't be the USA vs Syria.  It will be the USA and 10-15 others vs Syria.

Normally, I would agree with you...in this case, not so much.
We're talking about gas.   And I am no scientist nor do I have any military experience, but...gas gets into the air...air circulates and is capable of carrying said gas elsewhere.  Drop enough of it and we're talking gas dropped in one place affecting surrounding areas  that are keeping their noses out of what is happening next door.

Just a thought, but I think this is potentially more catastrophic than we think.

I agree....no boots on the ground but I could get behind some limited intervention by bombing their air fields/planes on the ground and certain military installations. As well as maybe a no fly zone with the UN involved. There is no way we can put massive amounts of US military lives on the line going full boar in there. They would face fire from both sides.

If we go in as a small part of a larger UN operation (e.g. US is less than 30% of the boots on the ground), I am okay with that even if we are the largest single force in the operation.

I am not okay with us going in solo or close to solo like we did in Iraq.
