The world will keep turning. The rich will keep getting richer. The poor will keep getting poorer. The lambs will continue following the herd (are lambs in a herd?)

I saw this the other day and thought of you. You've probably seen it already but I thought it was cute.

I've seen that. Love it!

Hoodie, I've already made the switch. (I actually prefer the San Diego Zoo. It's way nicer.)

A serious thought:

This whole shutdown is dumb and the GOP is entirely to blame.  Also, they are fighting a losing battle.  I get that you don't like Obamacare, but it passed Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court.  Get over it -- it's the law.  You can't just put the government on hold because you don't like a bill.

On the other side of the aisle, some Democrats are calling for Congress' pay to be stopped during the shutdown.  This is also a stupid publicity stunt.  Firstly, its in the Constitution that you can't do it.  But even if you could, it's a terrible idea.  That would give big power to wealthier members of Congress who don't need the paycheck.  Don't want to do it my way?  Fine, I'll just shut down the government so my opponent doesn't get paid.  It would create an uneven pressure.

Serious thought. Everyone should be fired and their benefits cease to exist.

A liberal blaming the GOP for everything, how original. Your are right, it passed congress, the idiot in chief, and the kangaroo court. It's the law. Yet the idiot in chief and his admin seem to want to pick and choose what parts to implement. Sure lets delay the employer mandate because that train wreck is going to cost us in the midterm elections. The GOP tried to compromise and only asked to delay the individual mandate for one year and get rid of the medical device tax in exchange for the current continuing resolution. However, like usual and has been documented, the senate democrats have said they won't compromise. YES, the democrats won't comprimise. So Obama and the Democrats delay Obamacare and then blame the GOP for trying to delay Obamacare. That's some silly ass crazy hypocritical shit right there. The shutdown is squarely on the Senate.

How is it a "compromise" for the Democrats to agree to delay Obamacare by a year to get a continuing resolution passed?  Obamacare is already fully funded and if neither side does anything, it goes ahead right on track.

Obamacare has nothing to do with the CR.  Republicans' refusal to fund the government (as an attack on Obamacare) is no different than if Democrats refused to fund the government unless an assault weapons ban is passed.  It's naked political extortion, which was made clear when the House GOP's debt-ceiling "compromise" was revealed.

Here's what the Democrats get in the aforementioned "compromise":
- the world economy is not torpedoed (for one year)

And here's what Republicans get:
- one year delay in Obamacare (to precisely match the next debt-ceiling vote, of course)
- tax reform as per last year's Paul Ryan budget, fast-tracked
- Keystone XL pipeline approval
- relaxed EPA regulations
- federal employee retirement reform
- blocked Net Neutrality
- repeal of Dodd-Frank financial reform
- transition of Consumer Financial Protection Board funding to Appropriations (so they can end it)
- repealing Social Services block grant
- means testing Medicare

In other words, the 2012 Romney-Ryan platform that lost the election by several million votes.  And all for being so gracious as to not blow up the economy!

Compromise, indeed.

A friend of mine made a pretty good suggestion.  He said that from now on, if there is a government shutdown of any kind, all sitting members of Congress and the President should automatically be deemed ineligible for re-election.  You can't do your job, you lose it.  Plain and simple.
