'72 - The Perfect Season

We have only played 2 games, but I just realized the following -

- we are 2 - 0 in the month
- we have won both games on the road
- we won a game in very cold and snowy weather

Compared to past years, I'll take it.  While not specific to December, we also

- scored more than 27 points
- scored a TD in the 4th quarter

It's definitely a positive step, Jim, but don't forget we're in a situation where 4-1 in December may not be enough.

Don't get me wrong, anytime you are playing well in December, it can turn into positive momentum for the next year, however if this team misses the playoffs, a lot of it will be due to an 0-4 October.

I predict that the Dolphin's January will be the same as last few years.

^^^^

I do too, but I hope I am wrong about that.

Anyway, a strong December does NOT equal success for next year, as we should know from the 2006 season after they won the last six games in 2005.

The point of my post wasn't to suggest that somehow we will make the playoffs, although that would be nice.  It was to point out that maybe our "December demise" is about to change.

Like any fan, I would be thrilled if we made the postseason; but I'm happy just to see us making improvements and winning games that we have lost in the past.  A winning season would be enough for me.  Next year - playoffs.

B/c you won two games in Dec?

Last year Dec was better than your Sept or Nov.

2011 You didn't win a game until Nov.

You really haven't had a Dec demise.

It's true that it's only 2 games, but it's 2 wins and I'll take that as a positive.

My comment about the "December demise" is from years past, when Miami was competitive.  We would have a great start to the season and then perform poorly in December.  Sometimes we would back into the playoffs, sometimes we would get knocked out.  I'm sure if you go back and look at Shula's final years, along with JJ and Wanny, you will see what I mean.

Yeah, but "The December Demise" is a much catchier phrase than "The November Not-Too-Shabby" or "The October Ought To Win More." Heck, I just want to see  "The January - Holy Shit, We're Still Here!"

I remember the Sept vs. Dec win/loss records in the 90s...that last month was hell on earth especially going to Buffalo or NY

Not sure why everyone was giving Jim a hard time but the Dolphins December demise was well known.  Every time we win in December I think about it. The fact we won a snow game in Pitt is long way from where we have been.

We need a 5-0 December to make the playoffs, and even then we may get unlucky and go home 10-6. Still, 3-0 so far with Buffalo next week. Nothing is a gimme with this damn team, but absolutely no excuse to lose to a bad Buffalo team with our season in the balance.
