Going forward a team can't charge fans for playoff teams until they actually clinch a home playoff game.

I am glad to hear this.  I hated the "we'll put your money towards next year's tickets" thing.  What if I don't want to renew?

That is great news. Nothing pissed me off more than having to shell out money for tickets we may not even see only to have them hold the money for 8 months if we did not make the playoffs or get a home game and apply it to next year!!!!!!

They also banned players "dunking" the football over the goalposts after touchdowns.

Which I am all for. Always thought it was silly and stupid. Thankfully the competition committee agreed

^^ I don't see the harm in that.  Why was that even a topic of discussion?

because Jimmy Graham destroyed a goal post doing it and it delayed the game while maintenance crews had to come out and fix everything. Because ya know that's what the paying fans came to see, a bunch of guys fix a goalpost while players drink water on the sideline. I mean its just unnecessary. If you want do a silly dance or act like a fool once you score a TD go for it, but don't do damage to anything that can actually stop the game.

Goal posts aren't for hanging on.

Whatever, Tony Gonzalez has been dunking on goalposts for 10 years and it hasn't been a problem.  But one goalpost breaks and the No Fun League takes action.  Maybe make better goalposts that are less susceptible to breaking, or fasten them better...

They don't seem to have a problem letting people sit around for 10 minutes waiting for TV commercials to end.  And that's 20 times per game.  I'm sure that's just as entertaining for the fans as watching them fix a goalpost.   So don't tell me crap about fans having to wait 10 minutes.

Tony Gonzalez never broke one...that's the difference. He did a one handed dunk and it was over with. Jimmy Graham was acting like a fool doing two handed dunks hanging on the thing till it friggin broke!! Causes its all about him. It's the "ME ME ME" league and draw attention to me. He took it too far. Now this is what ya get. I got no problem with it. I'm sure Jimmy Graham can celebrate his touchdown in another fashion without doing damage to a goalpost.

TV commercials are part of the deal. You know going in buying a ticket that will take place and its part of the game. Broken goalposts cause a 270 pound man wants to use it as a jungle gym isn't necessary.

So, first the discussion was about fans waiting around while they fix goalposts, but now they made a rule for one single guy who did one thing once that caused a problem.

I just don't see this as a top priority topic in the NFL.  Up there with bullying and player safety?  Not really.

I would have been easier to give the player a one game fine for damaging the field of play and causing a disruption in play than punishing others who are enjoying the game and not causing trouble. I hate throwing the baby out with the bathwater solutions.

This may be a bad example but didn't they stop NBA players from hanging on the rim for too long because Shaq decided to break the backboard?

Yep. They can't stop these games cause some millionaire wants to show-boat. That's what Jimmy Graham is doing...show-boating and it ended up delaying a game for no reason.

Jesus Christ Brian they can walk and chew gum at the same time. You can take care of big issues like player safety and such and also take care of little issues all in the same offseason. Just because you do one doesn't mean you ignore the other  Roll Eyes

Obviously.  I'm not an idiot.

You clearly have some hatred for Jimmy Graham which drives your opinion, but this is not a required part of the game that needed to be addressed.
