There should probably be a thread for general baseball chatter (hey, batta-batta), since the season "officially" started last night.

And, since the season started out with my beloved Padres beating the Evil Blue Dodgers, the first post in this thread is one of celebration, with the anticipation of the 1-0 Padres going 162-0 this season and shocking the world. Grin

Swiiiing, batta-batta!

Didn't they play some regular season games in the Land Down Under?

Since I am a Marlins hater until the shitface owner sells the team, im trying out the Red Sox as my new team. But not to be a bandwagon jumper, but out of marital convenience.

So far, its not working out well.  Im just not very invested in the team, emotionally. That seems to be a prerequisite for Boston fans.

I always try to get into baseball every April. and every May,  I wonder how much longer till football season. I thought maybe it would be different having a team to cheer for that has interest in playing beyond June. So far, not sure thats working...

Now the owner will see what it's like to really lose money.  Nobody trusts him now.

I think he makes enough with revenue sharing and luxury taxes where if he didn't sell one ticket, he probably wouldn't lose money. REALLY lose money, not the bullshit lies MLB teams say about losing money.

No.  He still gets money from other teams, and he is obligated to keep the team in Miami for 20 years or something, from the stadium deal.  The only thing that could happen is *gasp* maybe he sells the team.  And take that sniveling weasel Samson with him.

IMO, that's the #1 best move that would get asses back in seats.  I know it would work for me.

I watched the bottom of the 9th last night.  ...most baseball I've seen in a while.  I was entertained, but the Marlins couldn't come back.  Too bad.
