Boomer Esaison & Mike Francesa are idiots.  They ripped Mets player Dan Murphy for missing the first two games of the Mets' season for taking the allowable 3 days leave to be with his wife for the birth of their first child.  First of all its the Mets and they stink.  Second of all its the start of the season.  I could understand ripping him if he took the three days at the end of the season when the team was in the hunt for a playoff spot, but come on, guys are barely giving it their all at this point in the season.  BTW Murphy missed the fewest games of any major leaguer last season.

Not really an accurate statement. Murphy played 156 out of a possible 162 games last season, which tied him for 29th in the league. Four players appeared in all 162...

The article I read said he only missed one game.  Oh well.  Who were the four that played in all 162 games?

According to the stats page on MLB.com, that group included Prince Fielder, Joey Votto, Billy Butler and Hunter Pence

Actually it isn't all that far off.  I heard again that he only missed one game last year, so I checked your source, MLB.COM, and it lists him as missing one game, tied for 5th behind the four players that played in all 162.

Boomer is insane and I am kind of surprised he hasn't been fired. Not that I condone losing your job over stupid statements because I don't care, but that comment really dove into the world of lunacy. This isn't the NFL, there are 162 games. He can miss 2 to be with his wife and child. Game 7 of the World Series? Play ball. Opening Day for the goddamn Mets? Take 3 games off, the rest of the team did.

Not sure where you are pulling the info for that, or where the discrepancy is coming in.  If you go to the MLB.com website, go to the statistics tab, select hitting stats, then select 2013, then click on the games played category to sort by that criteria...it shows 4 players at 162 games, and Daniel Murphy at 156.

Masahiro Tanaka had an excellent debut against the tough Blue Jays. 7 IP, 3 R 2 3R 8 K 0 BB.

His 3rd pitch in MLB was crushed for a HR, but he settled down nicely after that. He has some excellent stuff, it just seems like a matter of if he can take the new schedule and limit his mistake pitches. He threw a few last night that he was lucky to get back. In Japan, those are doubles. In MLB, they are souvenirs.

^^^ I hate sounding like an all too familiar poster here on these forums but "I totally called it" Melky going yard on Tananka's first batter.  I jokingly said "first pitch  ... watch"  Cheesy.  I was off by 2 pitches.  =)

Pulled himself together and had a real nice one in the end.

I hope the Giants can keep it going against the dick-hole Dodgers.  I'm very happy with our lineup so far.  A lot of Giants fans were complaining we didn't do enough in the off-season but I LOVE the Michael Morse pickup.  So far he's been solid.

What do you think, Stroke?  As a Padres fan how do you like SF's chances to take the division?

I don't loathe the Giants quite like I detest the Dodgers and their eleventy gajillion dollar budget, but I always hope they lose anyway. They do have a good team though, and I expect them to at least make a run at the Dodgers.

He played in 156 games in 2012, In 2013 he only missed the one game and was 5th.

^^^ Again, I'm going directly from what is listed at MLB.com for the 2013 season. If Major League Baseball's official website has the wrong stats posted, that's on them...

After a 2 year layoff, Michael Pineda pitched an excellent game against the Jays, going 6 IP and allowing 1 ER. I believe it was 6 K and 0 BB. He lost because the Yankees somehow managed to have a $200 Million payroll and the worst infield in MLB and didn't score a run, but this rotation has a legitimate shot of being in the Top 10 if CC somehow manages to be league average. Probably not a true ace among the 5 and I don't see them making the playoffs with this old and inefficient lineup, but 3 young starters pitching well will more than satisfy me.

Man, that Jesus Montero/Hector Noesi for Michael Pineda/Jose Campos trade has been a disaster for both teams. Pineda's start today puts the Yankees ahead so far, but that just goes to show how awful and injured everyone involved has been.
