I was expecting Beckham jr to be available at #19, prompting SF to trade up for him, but the Giants kinda boned that maneuver.

I'm guessing WR.

EDIT: That's why I'm not a football guy I suppose.

Did I just see Derek Carr crying on the ESPN broadcast as they threw it to break?

49ers surprised a bit with the pick of Jimmy Ward. I think a Reid-Ward safety duo could be solid, but we already have Bethea, so don't really need a starting safety. We do need a slot corner, and the talking heads are saying he can slide down and do that.

My CB/WR short wish list for rounds 2-3, in order of preference:

CB: Pierre Desir, Stan Jean-Baptiste, Keith McGill, Phillip Gaines and Aaron Colvin
WR: Cody Latimer, Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson, Davante Adams, Martavis Bryant, Jordan Matthews

And this is why Cleveland will never be serious contenders. I heard in ESPN Radio this morning that they didn't over $100K to hire consultants for QBs and the consultants spent hours doing research and personal visits and told Ray Farmer the best QB was Teddy Bridgewater.  Cleveland trades up to 22, Bridgewater is still available, and they take Manziel.  What a waste of money

I heard that last night. Pretty funny.

So the Vikings pulled a slick move and snatched Teddy Bridgewater out from under Houston's nose.  Does Houston now take David Carr's little brother?

I laughed and laughed about this at the time.  Maybe those people with old CARR jerseys can brush them off an wear them again!  hahaha!!  I am sure the Texans were eager to grab Teddy at 2.1.  The Vikings really screwed them.

Side note: I think if Houston takes Carr, it leaves Arizona as the only team left with no solution at QB.

Word is Houston wants nothing to do with Carr. They wanted Bridgewater bad. Now it looks like they are going to trade for Mallett if they can. I guess the Houston owner McNair has bad blood with Carr's parents from when his brother was there.

The Vikings ruined Houston's night with that final move to get Teddy from everything I am hearing and reading this morning.

AZ is rather happy with Palmer. He has built up a nice relationship with Fitz and company. He had a rough start but was really in sync with them as the season wore on. They were looking to draft a QB to groom for the future but not as an immediate starter. They really like Carr but I don't know that he will make it past Houston in round 2!!!!!

That assumes of course that Cleveland  leak was accurate and not smokescreen so they could take Manziel.

Surprised they are all in with Palmer.  He's no spring chicken and he's not so great that his job is cemented.  I would think you'd want to bring in a young guy to be his successor...?

SF just traded for Bills WR Stevie Johnson. Gave up a conditional 2015 4th round pick

Yep, and with no disrespect to Quinton Patton, Stevie would immediately slide into the #3 WR role. This is a good fit for him. Even though he put up 3 straight 1,000 yard seasons with Buffalo trying to shoehorn him into that #1 WR slot, his best fit is being the complementary WR to a true #1.

49ers receiving targets for 2014: Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis, Stevie Johnson, Quinton Patton and whichever WR they draft today (and they will draft a WR today). That's not a bad stable of receivers, but they still need that pure burner who can take the top off a defense.*
