"Since Week 12 of the 2014 season, the Dolphins have allowed 29.7 points and 404.7 yards per game."

Why the fuck we kept our defensive coordinator is beyond me. He was the reason we didn't make the playoffs last year and he'll be the reason that we don't make it this year.

If Philbin had his way Mike Sherman would still be here too

Philbin elected to keep Coyle after the Dolphins allowed an average of 165 rushing yards per game in the final six games last season, finishing 2-4 down the stretch.

"I believe in the coaching staff that I have in place right now,” Philbin said. “I think they’re the men that can come up with the solutions to the problems.”

If this is the case, and he truly believes this, he's a fockin moron.   And MikeO is correct, if he had his way, he would have kept Sherman, who was AWFUL and predictable in his play calling.  If my 14 yr (his age a couple of yrs ago) son could see what play was being called, what do you think Def Coord and opposing teams saw?  Oh, and by the way, where is Mike Sherman today?

UPDATE: In May 2015, Nauset Regional High School announced that Sherman would take over as head football coach following the resignation of coach Keith Kenyon, who will become the new assistant principal. Enough said.

As for Kevin Coyle, I believe Jim Schwartz is sitting out there. He's not the best, but certainly more proven than Coyle.

Schwartz is working with the league this year in the league office. He will probably be on the Fins short list to be our next head coach. The short list will have Urban Meyer and Jim Schwartz atop of it (in no special order but if Meyer wants to come to the NFL then put him a 1 and Schwartz at 1a)

If Fins have a chance for Urban Meyer they can't pass that up.

Jim Schwartz isn't my first selection but it wouldn't upset me either. Because a) Polar opposite of Philbin and b) we just spent $60 mill on Suh and Schwartz will use him right and build around him correctly

Urban Meyer won't want to come to the NFL and he would not be a good NFL coach. Let's not even toss his name around in fear someone may see it and give it wind. Schwartz has already been an NFL head coach and it wasn't an impressive stint. Let's look for another option please.

Because guys like Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, and Tom Coughlin never happen. Ya know guys who had success in college as a head coach then go to the NFL and win there too

To the best of my knowledge, the only college coaches to ever win a Super Bowl without NFL coaching experience are Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer (with Jimmy Johnson's team).

Miami already tried Jimmy Johnson.

Maybe the best place to look for a coach is to hire some one who FAILED as a head coach...and had some time to access what went wrong...

Bill Belichick
Tom Caughlin
Pete Carroll
Mike Shanahan

So guys like Josh McDaniel, Eric Mangini, Jim Schwartz...etc. 2 of those 3 wouldn't upset me honestly. I know the masses on this site would flip the F' out with any of them as the head coach
