Looks like Philbin could be gone any minute now. Adam Schefter reporting it. And as I mentioned yesterday Dan Campbell to be the Interim coach

I thought position coaches and stuff couldn't get promoted to interim coach? I thought it had to be Lazor or Coyle???  Roll Eyes

It needs to happen.  Not like it is going to take this 1-3 team and make them into a playoff team this year.  But it would at least be a step in the right direction and like I said in another thread, even if someone else doesn't make them play better, they would at least hopefully make them play harder.

Well, I didn't literally mean that Ross cannot elevate a position coach over the OC/DC; I meant it would be a bad idea.  Obviously, Ross can elevate the waterboy if he so pleases.

I guess we'll see whether it is smart or not, based on the quality of head coach that replaces Philbin.  If Miami gets treated like a stepchild and/or bargaining chip again (as they did with Harbaugh and Fisher) then you'll have your answer as to whether publicly shaming your coordinators is a good personnel move.

Unless someone is a completely unforeseen surprise... there is nothing that is going to happen in 2015 that is going to prevent a complete overhaul on the coaching front.

To your point about getting used like a bargaining chip, in order to avoid this it would require firing everyone, including Tannenbaum.

Can't promote them if they are given their walking papers also.

Schefter just confirmed Philbin was fired. No word on Coyle yet.

No more impulse decisions for Ross like he did in Week 16 and fucked over our whole season because of it.

And you can't hire from the outside. It is not realistic.

Why is it unrealistic? Personally, there isn't a single coach on the "inside" that I think would be a good head coach for Miami.

One that loses the rest of the games for draft position. This year is fucked anyhow, it was the minute they resigned Philbin.

Because if they have to hire from the outside, they are within scope of the Rooney Rule. Because good head coaches are not sitting around picking their noses. Because no one worth a lick would take the job without having time to implement their systems mid-season.

I mean really? Is this a serious question?

Rooney Rule makes it unrealistic. This is a bye week, have to move fast. Can't take the time to line up interviews to make a "regular full time hire" now and go by the Rooney Rule and then have a new guy in place for a game in 13 days. It's totally unrealistic

The only way I see this as "realistic" is if they hire Mangina bc he's Mike Tannenbaum's boy.
