Filomenas on 17-92 if you want to try it Phish. They also have great $5 lunch specials

Thanks for the suggestion. I just looked them up and they have some good reviews. I'm going to give them a shot.

They are not extra, they are the toppings. I don't consider just slathering mayo in between two slices of bread a sandwich either but I know some who eats it. In my mind, it is wrong to call that a sandwich also.

Come on, Phish, cheese on pizza isn't the same as mayo on a sandwich. The mayo on the sandwich is like the marinara sauce on the pizza. A better comparison would be to a cheese sandwich...and I occasionally eat those too.

If the cheese(s), sauce and dough on a pizza are really good, you really don't need anything else to make it a great pizza.

Is Dominos cheap in Florida?

Yeah, I'd say so.  They have deals during the week, where I'll get like 3 pretty big pizzas for $30.  It'll feed 3 adults that night and then snacks and lunch for the next couple of days.

Can we make this a regular TDMMC series?

I'd like that, if we can think up disagreements that are debatable.

Phish, it's a little disturbing how passionate you are about pizza toppings, lol.

None of the traditional Italian pizzas have any of the stuff you seem to consider "the toppings".

Personally, I like some kind of meat on mine (preferably a good cured sausage with a nice kick to it), but that is way down on the list of what makes a great pizza in my book.

It's a good thing that I'm not Italian and you are incorrect.

Pizza capricciosa is a style of pizza in Italian cuisine prepared with mozzarella cheese, Italian baked ham, mushroom, artichoke and tomato. Types of edible mushrooms used may include cremini, white mushrooms, and others. Some versions may also use prosciutto (a dry-cured ham), marinated artichoke hearts, olive oil, olives, basil leaves and egg. Some versions may be prepared using a thin crust.

When I said traditional, I was referring to the three classics, as recognized and protected by the STG (specialità tradizionale garantita). One of the requirements is that the product has been made the same way for a really long time (30+ years), i.e. a classic by definition.

That said, there are plenty of great Italian pizzas with meat and other stuff on them, although I would argue that the AMOUNT of stuff on a pizza in Italy is usually substantially less than the domestic variants.

Really good quailty pizza great crust, sauce and cheese, stands on its own and is dimished by adding toppings.  Cheap pizza needs topping to have some taste.

Likewise store bought icecream is better buried in hot fudge and whip cream, but fresh homemade icecream is better in a cone without the additives.

Cheap rum is better with a mixer than straight, fine 150 year old brandy is better straight than with a mixer.

I have the greatest wife in the world.  If there is one thing that could lead to us divorcing, it is pizza.  I'm a minimalist, pepperoni only.  She wants everything that can possibly be piled onto a pizza, shoved onto it.  Being the wonderful spouse that she is, she pretty much always caves in and we just order pepperoni.  But just once I think we are going to each order half and half of what we like just to see how comical the pizza is going to look.  My half will just have pepperoni and her half will be sitting about 8 inches higher than my half from all the crap piled on top of it.   Grin
