Beats, while overpriced, are significantly better audio quality than any other headphones I had tried...my nephew has a pair and I was surprised how good the audio was.

What?  I'm not saying I'd spend money on a pair, I think it's a waste of money.  Just saying, even with all the marketing hype, they're pretty good.

I'll agree to a point. However, usually when you pay a premium for a watch like a Omega or Rolex, you're getting premium quality in most cases.
No, you are paying for jewelry.  A $50,000 Rolex watch is going to tell you the time with virtually identical accuracy as a $50 Casio watch (in some cases, worse).

Of course it's jewelry silly guy. Yes, and a Lexus is going to get you there at the same time as the a POS Chevy Aveo. You're missing the point. The quality of the two are not the same. Just like a Rolex has much higher quality than the Casio. The problem with Beats is that they charge the price of a premium brand and don't have the performance to justify the price. The point is that for the same price you can do better much than Beats, and for much less you can have the equivalent of Beats. Leave it to Spider to argue about a point that I wasn't even making, haha. Move along sir!!

Maybe you are evaluating some facet of performance of a watch that I am unaware of.  I'm looking at their ability to accurately tell me the time, in which case it seems unlikely that a Rolex will do so better than a Casio that automatically and regularly synchronizes to an atomic time standard.  In contrast, Beats headphones can measurably have a better sound response range than a pair of $20 Wal-mart headphones, so at least you're getting something for your money.

Now, you can make the argument that it's possible to get the same performance as Beats at a lower price, and that's fine and true.  But it makes no sense to get on a soapbox complaining about Beats and then turn around and say that it's different when Rolex does it.  Rolex is everything you profess to hate about Beats, only magnified many times: people buying overpriced "premium" products because they want to be seen with a brand.

Which is a timely and relevant observation in a thread about iPhones.

I saw a video where you can drill your own headphone jack in the 7.  That looked legit.
