So my "wife" came over to visit Sunday to hangout, and watch the Dolphins and Cubs games. The last 6 months, anytime we go some where running errands (either passing or going to anyplace she can), "I need to buy underwear,and/or socks." We met up for lunch she was meeting me for lunch, and was late because she stopped to buy socks. She buys a 3 pack,or 6 pack almost every time.

*(it must be noted her house did burn to rubble in late May,but this has started before that)

I've joked,Wow that flavor of the month, she stealing your underwear? Really likes to tear those off you, she's a really panty dropper,etc...

A few people at my work are somewhat obsessed with new socks...

How often do you Buy new Socks, and  Underwear?

Not until the old ones wear out and that is even kind of subjective as I have old yard work socks that don't have a bit of elastic stretch to them but I don't want to get my nice socks stained.

I buy a pack of socks or underwear once a year (if that),but I also tend to buy as many as I can at one time. Ie 20 pairs of socks,12-18 pair of underwear.I have some that I've bought and didn't like, and have 3-4 pair brand new still in the package.

I also have two pair each of Black,Grey,Navy Blue, and Brown socks. I also have several pair of longer winter, socks when I wear boots.I rarely wear any of them anymore.

Both my Socks and underwear,I tend to wear 3-4 pair over, and over.I keep the rest in the original package in the drawer, and grab a new pair as the 3-4 pair wear out.

I buy new ones whenever the old ones start to get a little worn which seems to be about once a year.  They are both always on the xmas list, LOL.   I'm still the guy who fears getting into a car accident and being shipped off to the hospital with a hole in my drawers.   Grin

If I am in an accident bad enough to go to the hospital, it won't be a hole I am worried about being in there.

Shit man, I'm so picky about my underwear and socks that when I find some I like, I buy 2-3 years worth. Last time they stopped making the underwear that I liked, so in June '15 I bought 10 pairs of a different kind and I liked them. So I immediately ordered 10 more pair and put them up in the closet in case they stop making those too. So I'm good for the next couple years, lol.....

^ I'm like pondwater.

I have literally ONE type of underwear.  One cut, one size, one brand.  Sometimes, I'll get some novelty underwear or boxers as a gift, but on a day to day, I wear one.  I haven't bought underwear in a long time.

For socks, it's different.  I wear white tube socks occasionally, but it's always the same brand.  Within that brand, they do change from year to year, so my strategy is to throw a bunch out all at once and replace them all at once so I don't have mis-matching socks.  I'm due for that again.

For work socks, I've abandoned that strategy and just go with whatever crazy crap I can find.

The only underwear I own are for "date nights" only. Grin

I buy new socks a couple of times a year, always the same white tubes for play, black dress socks for work. I will usually buy a few packs of the tubes and one of the dress socks when I go shopping.

Where do you guys still find tube socks? They are almost impossible around here (although I have three pair) because all you can find are crew socks.

I wear those too. But what do you guys call tube socks? To me tube socks come all the way up over the calf to right under your knee. But obviously I was wrong. Tube socks are just straight socks with no heel shape. I bought some at Walmart and they only came up mid calf. I hate those things because they keep falling down. Anyhow, since I can't find any over the calf socks in store locally, I buy mine on Amazon. They are pretty good, they last about a year or so. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IO9JCY4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I buy socks very rarely but when I do it is like 24 pair of identical socks.  I hate dealing with the process of matching them and this way if I lose 2socks I now have 23 pairs as opposed to 22 pairs and 2 odd unmatched socks.

I'm extremely picky about my underwear.  I need a boxer brief that prevents chaffing and provides a good home for the boys.  Fruit of the Loom recently discontinued the make I've purchased for over a decade, so I've been in an experimental phase with a couple of different Hanes designs.  My job potentially requires me to stand/walk for over 12 hours a shift so comfort is essential.  I can't thrust someone's jaw forward for 45 minutes straight so they can breathe if I've got undercarriage issues brewing.  When I find what I'm looking for, I'll buy a metric shit ton of them and stash them away.

I made a switch years ago to ankle socks when I moved to central Texas.  Since there are only 2 seasons here, summer and not summer, I have no requirement for added fabric to help me sweat.  As long as they're not the low profile ankle socks which end up in my shoes after a few minutes of wear, I'm good to go.  I don't mind matching socks, so I purchase them in packs of 3s or larger packs whenever I'm feeling it's time.

I recently had to put down all the marathon runner quality socks I bought that lasted me 10 years plus.  They were $9/pair, but I got every last penny out of 6 or so sets I bought.  Best friggin' socks I've ever put on in my life...but the company stopped making the style that fit my feet.

About once a year, although I usually buy enough that I could skip a year without any worries. The older stuff just migrates to the back of my sock/underwear drawer (which reminds me... I really need to clean that crap out).

I used to wear socks that were pretty much black, but after getting married and having kids, sorting 5 different sizes of "black sock" just became too much of a hassle, so now I go for black with some color, usually a few stripes. I don't like patterns all that much, since I find that they often stretch slightly differently that the rest of the sock. I do appreciate socks that have the size sown into them, which can really help with sorting (although I have to admit my wife does that 90% of the time).

Really picky about underwear as most people above. Everything needs to have just the right fit and getting all aspects right is almost impossible. I'm a boxer-briefs / trunks guy (need some support, no free-hanging stuff!). Okay, I digress, that's pretty much a separate issue -- we can take that with the "which way should the toilet paper roll go" (out, not even a question).

+1 to Dave's point, about slight changes being made.

I wear the Hanes Big &Tall 12-14,comes in 12 pairs of ankle socks per pack,(just over the ankle). In August I saw they had them at my local Wally world, they had zero at my closest store, the other one close said they had 6 in stock.I got there, and had to ask someone,Do you have these? after wandering around the mens department for 20 minutes. (I showed her a picture on my phone). There was a black guy on the package on the old ones, and white guy on the new package, and moved all the lettering around. The socks themselves have a few tweaks, black writing, slightly different seam at the toe.

I've gone back and forth on my Boxer Briefs,I love the Hanes Comfort tops, but the last couple of packs were horrible.(Losing weight didn't help either) After 2 washes the elastic started poking through the top,and they became really baggy. After like 2 months I went to replace them, I went with Fruit of the loom boxer briefs, got more, for roughly the same price, and they seem to be holding up much better.
