Some great bands mentioned, but it's really no contest:

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

I'll see your Springsteen:

Bob Marley & the Wailers

...and raise you:

Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention

A few others I like:

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band
Sniff & the Tears (great 1-hit wonder with "Driver's Seat")

^^^ Since I gave Joan Jett a rose at a concert during her Bad Reputation tour, I feel a little stupid for not thinking about that group.

Count me in the group that was never really that into Springsteen. I did like his early-early stuff a little, but once he got popular, I thought it all just sounded the same.

Tom Petty rocks...

I also don't love Springsteen.  I don't hate it, and I like him as a dude, but his music never spoke to me.

^ I was going to reply that! Cheesy I was laying in bed lastnight trying to fall asleep that commercial for Austin city limits came on.I'd never heard of her before this thread...

+1 to what Dave said...Great Call on Tom Petty,Joan Jett and Bob Seger too!

Some good ones being named that I missed...I'd heard of Siouxsie & the Banshees because of a woman I dated...

While not my favorite, but a sort of flash back of my youth...D.j. Jazzy Jeff and the fresh prince

Love Zappa.  Makes me want to go home and break out my Joe's Garage LPs.

Those are three good ones.  I saw Tom Petty in concert 20 years ago, he is excellent.

Mainly 70s, 80s, and early 90s music is what I listen to. Maybe a some 60s stuff too. However 75-90 is where most of my listening is, even to this day. I tried real hard to think of a hard rock/hair metal type band but I couldn't come up with anything. Joan Jett and Tom Petty was the best I could do. I thought about this for a few hours, lol....
