This started Saturday when I was looking for furniture for the office with our current office manager,he mentioned his kids watched the Beethoven movie. He couldn't believe how many they made after the 1st couple from back in the 90's.So we were both laughing about how many sequels were in the franchise. It got me thinking there are a few movies like that...

What movie franchises went too far? Too many sequels, spin off movies, etc In your opinion.

Tremors (5)
Fast and the Furious (10)
Saw (7)
American Pie (7 with a rumored 8th)

I could do without any of those after the first one or two.

I may get blasted for this one but Pirates of the Caribbean has been around too long for me. Police Academy is also one that went too far.

The last pirates they made was terrible.  I'll probably see the new one when it comes out, because it's bringing back all the original characters.

All of those. Especially Fast and the Furious garbage. I can't see how that shit is so popular since the 1st one is very mediocre at best. At least Tremors, Saw, and American Pie 1st installments were somewhat decent movies.

Death Wish.  The first had an actual plot theme and character development. The others were just Bronson shooting people.

Rambo. Ditto

Rocky.  First was great rest was stupid.

Home Alone It was the exact same movie.

Indiana Jones.  First THREE were great, but they made one too many.

Pretty sure that all of the ones I was thinking of have been mentioned above...Tremors definitely had too many. I mean, c'mon, they're just big-ass worms, how far can you take that plot?

Some of the more popular horror franchises, like Friday the 13th & Nightmare on Elm Street, made way too many sequels. Not sure how many Childs Play movies are out there, but the second one was one too many.

No calls for Zatoichi? Same Samurai slashing up the same dudes, every movie...

I've never heard of it but the description puts it on my list automatically.

Speaking of sequels when the movie about King George II came out they had to drop II from the movie title because many people assumed it was a sequel and wouldn't want to see it because the would want to see the original first.

They evolve into crazy things with legs...I think they can fly in another one.  Sad to say, I've seen a couple of those on a lazy Sunday on SciFi

I love Despicable Me, the sequel, and Minions...they should make a couple of new movies every year, imo. Grin

In general, I have managed not to get sucked in by these movies.  I watch the first one, usually, they entertain me alright, and then I move on.  Most of these franchises, I've not seen all of the entry, and some, I've seen none of the entries at all.

I think the Marvel franchises/MCU as a whole has gone too far. If we went 2 years without a CBM, I think I would be more than ok with that.
