My friend and I were talking today about the NBA draft lottery.

What if that finished and then immediately the first team is on the clock?

Would that be more exciting and worth doing?

It is about 15 minutes of TV anyway. I don't like the idea of moving it to immediately before the draft. It just leaves too much open if teams have no idea where their draft slot is before that night.

If the NBA draft is anything like the NFL, it would be bad for the teams.

Before the draft there is a ton of predraft trade negotiations.  Those can only occur if you know where you and the other teams are drafting.

Proof that the lottery is rigged.  The Celtics get the top pick and the Lakers are right behind them

You wouldn't have time for a team to make a trade. Not going to happen in the 10 min once a team is on the clock. Also needs to be closer to the start of free agency as well. So it wouldn't make sense to do it that way

How is that rigged? Boston had Brooklyn's pick and the best chance to get the #1 pick and LA was the 3rd worst team in the NBA and projected to get a top 3 pick.

The Celtics had 25% of the four digit numbers for choosing their draft spot.  They actually drew Celtic numbers three consecutive times before they drew the Lakers numbers.
