They shouldn't have to.  A deal is a deal

It is a 7th round 2018 pick.  Not a huge deal.

Hoodie, how is Ninkovich viewed in NE?  Similar to someone like Troy Brown?

Ehh a 7th rounder no biggie.

I read a tweet about him having to give money back earlier...Err found it!  Shocked  Embarrassed
@RapSheet: Bad news for #Jaguars LT Branden Albert: If he stays retired, he owes $3.4M back in old signing bonus to Jax — $1.7M this year, $1.7M in ‘18

I thought about Ricky Williams, and his needing to pay back the Dolphins, and him returning to pay it off.

Very favorablely. Solid player with no issues.  Plus Pats fans have a soft spot for guys who weren't talented enough to contribute for other teams, but somehow managed to start for NE.  Even more so if the other team includes a division rival.

Conditional pick. This was one of the conditions

It clearly stated in the trade contract that "...if Mr. Albert decides to retire upon arriving in Jacksonville and realizing it is worth $3.5 Million to not play here, then Miami shall give back it's 7th round pick".

The money was likely worked out where Jax has already compensated Miami if they had already paid Albert for 2017 and 2018 since he wasn't going to be with Miami.
