One of my favorite classic rockers...absolutely bummed out about this.

Guess I'll be loading up the playlist tonight with old Petty and Wilburys tracks.

"It was Monday when the daymaids found the still made bed
All except the pillows that lay stacked up at the head
And one said, 'I know I've seen his face, I wonder who he is?'
And the other said, "He's probably just another clown..Workin' on something big'"

Tom Petty was great!  I saw him live, close up, in concert in the late '80's. It ranks up there in the top 5 of concerts I've been to.

I like Tom Petty quite a bit.  He's just one of those guys that's always been around making good music.  I am of the age where I'm going to start to see a lot of these, I'm afraid.

RIP, Tom.

He's Dead now...

Reminds me of a joke......

Two hunters are in the woods and one accidental shoots the other.  Who calls 911.

Hunter:  I shot my buddy he is dead.
Operator: Are you sure?
Hunter: I think so.
Operator: Make sure.
Blam Blam
Hunter: I am sure now.

RIP Tom Petty! One of my favorites and fellow Florida boy. You will be missed but thank you for your contributions!

Yeah, just today I was telling a guy at work that the last couple years has been pretty bad for famous people we grew up with dying. Then it hit me and I said, "We're just getting old and it's only going to get worse going forward". I liked Tom's late 70s and 80s stuff the most. I can't say that I really remember anything of his past the early 90s stuff. Did he even have anything relevant past 92-93? Anyhow, RIP Tom, thanks for the great tunes...

"You don't Know how it feels" was released in 1994 and stayed pretty popular on the radio and MTV for the next couple of years.

That's the last push I remember him making.

Yeah, it had a pretty cool music video too...back when music videos were still a thing.

My wife and I talked about the same thing this morning.  I'm in my early 50s and it seems like every month there is a music or sports icon of my youth passing away.

RIP Tom Petty...."you belong among the wildflowers"

Weird - I just wrappd up HBO's "The Defiant Ones" and was thinking about Petty.  As a former radio guy I knew most of the stories but I never knew just how much "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" truly derailed his album "Hard Promises."  It's really too bad, it's one of his best ever.  It really should have been "the" defining album of his career but the song with Nicks was dropped on top of it.

Anyway - RIP Tom.  Your music lives on.
