I was really surprised to hear some of the details.  The company that built his plane, ICON, is based out of Vacaville, CA, less than a mile from where I work.  In fact, my worksite is shown in one of their demo videos:



What's absolutely heartbreaking is the promotional video (deleted by ICON but re-uploaded by someone else) of Hallladay with his wife.  She goes on at length about how she didn't want him to buy this plane (described elsewhere as "a jetski with wings") but eventually gave in.  He bought the Founder's Edition, serial 001 of 100.
