I would hope that some idiots caught shoplifting in a repressive country would be way cheaper than captured soldiers in a war zone. And even then the soldiers would be more worth it.
One traitor is worth more than shop lifting kids? You sir need help.

Calling him a traitor is an exaggeration of the situation. There is zero evidence that he ever intended to aid the enemy.  He is far from innocent but he did not commit treason.

A soldier in enemy hands facing mortal danger is worth saving with more resources and urgency than a couple of idiots facing a few months in prison for stupidity .. yes .. easily.  Those who willingly place themselves in danger and choose to serve in a volunteer military deserve nothing less. Maybe you've let the right wing russian news circus rot your brain a little if you don't see that.

"Traitor"?  I don't remember Bergdahl being charged with treason, much less convicted of it.  I guess the recent chants I've been hearing about "Innocent until proven guilty!" only apply to child molesting Senate candidates.

In any case, we should all be happy any time our government is able to retrieve an American citizen from a foreign entity with ill intent.  I would much rather see Bergdahl and Ball stand trial in America for any crime they may have committed.

I'd be interested in hearing what China's "ill intent" was...

FIFY

China does not take shoplifting lightly and they certainly don't place an emphasis on due process.

LaVar Ball withdrew his son (LiAngelo) from UCLA, I guess he didn't like his son being on indefinite suspension.  In other news the LA Lakers have implemented a policy to ban media members from interviewing guests or family members after games.  I wonder if LaVar will have Lonzo quit playing for the Lakers?

Favorite comment under that article... "Looks like UCLA grew a spine...and lost their Balls."
