The argument being offered is that while (on paper) Grier is in charge of player personnel and Gase determines who makes the 53-man roster, in practice Tannenbaum is really making those decisions because he has the power to fire Grier and/or Gase.  But under that reasoning, Ross would the one really making those decisions, as he has the power to fire anyone in the organization.

No one is disputing that Tannenbaum (or Ross!) could fire Grier/Gase and appoint himself to make personnel decisions.  But as it stands right now, Ross and Tannenbaum are not the individuals assigned responsibility for personnel and the roster.

To use an analogy: Matt Burke is the Dolphins' DC and (to my knowledge) calls the game defensively.  Now, Gase could fire him and call the defense himself.  But since he hasn't, it is reasonable and appropriate to say that Burke is the one calling the defenses for the Dolphins.

That podcast blows in general as there are much better Dolphins podcasts out there these days. Back to the point;  again the Tannenabum hate just doesn't make sense. If you don't like him cause he came from the Jets that you are entitled to. I mean its kinda childish but I get that. To blame for all things wrong with the Fins, that is just flat out unfair. Those want him fired now but refuse to give him credit for last year. You can't have it both ways. I am no defender of Tannenbaum or a homer of his, but give the guy a fair shake at least and don't be a knee-jerk reaction type about it
