The Giants are benching Eli Manning for...Geno Smith. LOL  Stunning that the Giants don't know the history of Smith, since he did play in the same stadium for the Jets.  I'm no huge fan of Eli, but he's much better than Geno.  The Giants have many issues, Eli is way down the list.

The Giants are sacrificing a game or two with Geno to give Webb a better chance of success. Let Geno take the hit when everything hits the fan, then give Webb a shot in a less hostile environment.

Or at least that was my theory until I saw the Giants' schedule. After the Raiders this weekend, they face the 'boys and the Eagles, both away. Not ideal. Maybe Cardinals at home for Christmas?

Eli's games-started streak ends with a benching?  This is certainly his last contract in NY.

At this point Giants are playing the first game of 2018 preseason play Gino for a half then play Webb for a half.

It's my guess that Eli is done in New York and possibly in the NFL

The coach apparently told him they'd keep him as the starter to keep the streak alive and then pull him to play the others. Eli declined.

Yeah, I saw that.  Eli stated (accurately) that such an action would be a sham and that it would tarnish the streak.

It's the equivalent of taking a deep shotgun snap and tossing a shuttle pass to a receiver behind the line of scrimmage on the last play of the game to keep a reception streak alive.  It's a joke.

That's exactly what I thought of too when I heard that.

Kind of funny if you ask me. Eli is the only QB to ever beat Tom Brady in a Super Bowl and he's done it twice.

All I can say to the above is that you can't control what your opponent does.   But yes, it is similar.

Interesting bookends to an otherwise classy and successful career.

Beginning: crybaby forced a trade after being drafted

Middle : 2sb MVP

End : benched for Geno Smith.

He was there early the next day to help out Geno. Says a lot about the guy regardless of his rocky draft/start.
