There are a plethora of awesome Burt Reynolds movies to pick from.

Smokey and The Bandit (the original one... the sequels are kind of blah)
Boogie Nights (he hated himself for making it but it was still very good)
Heat (the original one from the 80's)
The original Longest Yard (the remake is watchable too)
Stroker Ace
Cannonball Run 1 and 2
Driven
Hooper

RIP

Smokey & the Bandit has been on TV a lot lately.  I'll have to pull out my dvd of Deliverance in his memory, that's a great movie.  My question from that movie though, is the hillbilly killed on top of the rock cliffs  the same guy that was part of the rape?

Labor Day weekend.  They always play the shit out of it on Labor Day weekend.  Have since I was a small child (Hint: I'm approaching 40)

This one really saddens me. It also made me sad to see him age as he was one of my favorites from a young age. Smokey and the Bandit has always been one of my favorite movies ever! RIP Mr. Reynolds Cry

Lots of people posting tributes to him but I wanted to share Kevin Smith's as I could really relate.

Wherever Burt ends up going in the afterlife, I hope there are tons of open roads and lots of shit to jump a Trans Am over...

I missed Burt Reynolds, mostly.  I remember him as a sex icon in pop culture on magazine covers and stuff, but I was too young for the movies he was making at the time.  I know him first-hand mostly from his older resurgence, specifically Boogie Nights.

I was born in 1977.

Smokey and the Bandit came out the year I was born.  Cannonball run, when I was 4.  And The Longest Yard and Deliverance before I was born.

During my teen years, he made shlock rom-coms and family films, like Cop and a Half.  He just wasn't on my radar until about college age when he started making disturbing dramas again.

Ahhh, Ok. Had to be an early 70's kid to really have seen his more popular stuff.
