I am no fan of him as a person, but he is the most raw talented receiver the patriots have had since Moss.  But also a bigger head case and less expensive.  Upside with a chance of culture and an opportunity to win a super bowl the guy turns his life around putting worth a season that puts him in the running for CPOY.  Downside patriots traded down around 40 spots in the draft.

A ham and cheese sandwich and if he does play at least 10 games the patriots get the cheese and one slice of bread back 😀

I will say that if any team can get something out a guy like Gordon, the Patriots will be the team to do it.  They have a long history of taking on reclamation projects.  Some have worked out and the ones that don't work out usually get kicked to the curb pretty quickly.  To only give up a 5th rounder for someone with that much talent (badly diminished by that much baggage), seems like a no brainer.

I hope Gordon rubs off on Brady, who ditches his strict lifestyle and decides he always wanted to try smoking meth.

Very little downside for the patriots but lots of upside.

If Gordon is a disaster it costs them $700k in salary less than double the league min for a rookie plus a late 5th round pick becomes an early 7th round.

If Gordon succeeds in staying clean and productive they get a very talented WR.  End of year he is a RFA.  Probably not the kind of guy you want to sign long term so tender him an original tender RFA tender.  If he signs else where Patriots get a 2nd round pick.  If Gordon signs the tender Patriots get a top tier WR for less than $2 million.  2020 he is an UFA.  Assuming he stays clean and signs elsewhere he is a likely 3rd round compensatory pick.

So this could be like buying Moss for a 4th and selling him for a 3rd.

Huh Huh Why does it seem like the PATS always get these kind of picks/trades. I bet Josh Gordon has a career season with them

I'd put money on him being the same. He will be in the doghouse soon enough.

I doubt he starts a single game for the Patriots. Might get a couple catches before he misses time again for some reason and the Patriots release him.

I hope Josh Gordon doesn't suit up this week against the Dolphins.  Hopefully, Bellichek still wants to make Brady look bad and doesn't give him another receiver.
