IMHO.  I like it best when player choose to sign with a team b/c it is the team they grew up watching and it allows them to share their experiences with family and the friends they grew up with.  It is a refreshing change than going wherever you make the most money.

Players' careers are so short anymore, I think a player should really strongly lean towards going to a team that best suits his playing ability, and where he thinks his career will last the longest.  Over time taking less money on a good team can turn in to more money with a longer playing career; versus going to a crappy team for the money where you will get beat up, resulting in a shorter career.
