the draft lottery isn't rigged .. new orleans is the 2nd smallest market in the NBA .. they aren't rigging shit for that town... if it was rigged, you'd see NY with the #1 pick .. and they'd hype hype hype the crap out of it forever.

you wanna see rigging .. check out this study:
http://pricetheory.uchicago.edu/levitt/Papers/DugganLevitt2002.pdf

they basically found that in sumo wrestling, if a fighter in the last match was 7-7 he won a disproportionate amount of the time, and 95% of the next match those two fighters fought (in the next tournament) they one that needed the win would lose in the 2nd match

Wrong.   If it was rigged, the Lakers would've gotten the number one pick.

Is this really "rigged" or more like the unwritten rule in baseball that you don't bunt and steal if the score is 9-1 in the 8th inning, you just let the game run out?

Or is it like in the NFL when one team needs a win to advance to the playoffs and the other team is totally out of it or has clinched the best playoff spot they can get then the team who cares is more likely to win than the team that doesn't give a shit and is resting his starters?

Part of this could be explained by the fact that someone who is 7-7 is highly motivated for the win while someone who is 6-8 or 8-6 is not very motivated and after 14 bouts both of them are extremely tired and motivation can be a huge factor.

that is very true .. and the fact that the wrestler at 7-7 wins a disproportionately high amount of times isn't in itself suspicious .. but coupled with the next bout the two wrestlers have .. the one that needed the win at 7-7 loses 95% of the time that's what makes the win exchange obvious

There was a time in the mid 2000's where they were challenging the Spurs for supremacy in the West.

And the only reason the Spurs were relevant was because they tanked like their life depended on it in order to get Timmy Duncan.

Milwaukee prevented Boston from the chance to be the first city to win all 4 championships in a single season. But the Bruins are 5 wins from making Boston the first city to get 3 in a single season.
Crisis averted.

Boston has won 2 in the same season three times -- the only city with more is NYC which has 2 football teams, 2 baseball teams, 2 basketball teams and 3 hockey teams.

New York and Boston should actually be penalized when they do not win in baseball. They buy All-star teams so if any other team competes with them they are underachieving. Try winning something with the Rays salary and then you can brag. Actually Chicago has moved into their leagues with salaries so they should be included as well.

If you wonder why Stanton is underachieving with the Yankees, it's because he's in the AL now and facing far better pitching.

I don't disagree.  I much prefer the model of football to that of baseball. Red Sox are now spending like the Yankees, when I was a kid they didn't.

Someone needs a geography lesson

Obviously I am referring to the metropolitan area, I am aware Patriots aren’t in Boston, Giants and Jets are in NJ etc.
