Wonder who they'll replace him with. I hear Blake Bortles is available.

Full terms: The #Dolphins are receiving a 4th round pick in 2020 and the 2019 7th round pick, while the #Titans are getting a 6th in 2019 and Ryan Tannehill

Better than nothing, I suppose.  Bortles would pretty much get the Dolphins a top 3 pick next year all by himself.  He is awful.

This is good, stocking up draft picks for the future.  I haven't been this excited to suck in a while.

1) Doesn't Tennessee have a franchise QB already? Tanny is a ridiculously expensive backup.
2) What does this do for our cap? I know what it meant to release him but does trading him change anything?
3) We basically got a 4th rounder in 2020 and I'm cool with that. We were going to release him anyway so we got something, as long as it doesn't hurt our cap for 2020.

Then I welcome him with open arms.

I can answer question 1...Mariota is always hurt, so they need a good backup.

LOL, yeah, I don't disagree with that.  I wonder what the Titans are going to do with Mariota.  I know they have been disappointed that he hasn't been what they thought he would be and Tanny is going to be a hell of an expensive backup.  I would think the Titans are looking to move Mariota now.

$7 million on a one year deal isn't that expensive.

So did Tannehill have to agree to this trade? I mean he's getting a new contract from the Titans I would assume, yes? If so he'd have to agree to it, right? So that means that Tannehill was on board with doing it or am I making a bad assumption there. Just asking because it was my understanding that Tannehill probably wouldn't take a pay cut unless it was in his own best interests in his opinion.

Seems odd.  I mean at that price Dolphins should have kept him. And why would agree? He could just wait until cut and become a FA.

Unless maybe he has a shot at being the starter? Could Mariotta be on the trade block? Or maybe he thinks that even if he loses the QB battle to Mariotta he'll get significant playing time if Mariotta is injured which he has a history of and could eventually become the starter and then get starter money next year. I gotta believe that RT felt like Titans offered something that he wouldn't necessarily get in FA.

Mariotta is hurt all the time, Tannehill will be the starter at some point, probably within the first 4 games.
