I don't get this move. Why get a reasonable quarterback? This is going to be a 5 win season.

So cynical.  We don't need a full rebuild, there are pieces in place.  Offensive line, defensive line and we're competitive.

It is a very good move.  Fitzmagic isn’t taking you to the superbowl, but he does allow you to be competitive in games.

Doing what some want and having a truly horrible QB to chase the first overall draft pick would be a bad idea.  Here is why:  If the Dolphins were to actually tank the players would respond by giving less than 100%.  And that is fine for getting the first overall pick.  But that creates a culture of failure.  And yes, you can change culture, but that requires changing coaching staff.

Assuming he starts at least one game, he will have started on 8 different teams.  That might be a record.  There certainly are QBs that have been in on more teams than that.  But typically they have a few teams with zero starts.  He has started on all 7.

I don't like this, we have some deep threats and Fitzpatrick can sling us into more victories than we want. We won't make the playoffs or anything, but we can accidentally win 4 or 5 games and that's way too many.

If we start off 1-0, bench him.

If Flores does that he permanently loses the locker room.

Oh, I know. Absolutely 0% chance of that happening, just saying that there is too much upside to this move. Fitzpatrick is not anyone's answer long term, but he is more than capable of a great 6 or 7 game run where he throws for over 2,000 yards and completely destroys our chances for a Top 3 pick.

I don't know how he's going to have time to find them considering the OL. Fitzpatrick is going to be running for his life 75% of the time he drops back. Unless 3 is too many wins, it's not going to be an issue. There's a very good reason that Fitzpatrick was a free agent. He's not THAT good.

With the NY Giants? Yeah, 3 is too many wins. Plus, never know when one team sacrifices their whole draft to move into the top spot. It paid off quite well for the Rams.

1 win max. I don't want Fitzmagic just hucking it downfield all game and Stills has a career 240 yard performance and we win. I want a QB sneak on every play. I want our defense to line up in punt return formation on 1st down.

I just think it's neat having a Harvard QB, especially one that I got to watch for four years. He did really well. Now if the Dolphins could only play Ivy League and 1AA teams this season.
