I don't think that many, if not most, Dolphin fans have an allegiance to the city of Miami. Heck ... the team doesn't even train or play in Miami. With that said I think this draft hat is atrocious and was designed with a small target audience in mind. It brought back bad memories of the home run decoration for the Marlins.

I have horrible news for you, if you don’t like that hat design your choices are somewhat limited by the fact the Dolphins pro-shop has only 270 other designs to choose from.  😭

Given how many choices you have for hats each individual hat is geared to a limited subset.  Certainly there are some Dolphin fans that indentify with Miami.  It is not like they designed the flag based on the flag of the city of Buffalo.

Could also be part of the NFL push for globalization.  That isn’t just the flag of Miami, it is also the flag of India. 

The New Delhi Dolphins has a nice ring.  🤪
